Grant Holloway always seems to be having a great time. It was awesome seeing him do all the interviews at the Holloway Classic. He probably could've pursued a football career, but just had they passion for track. He also seems to love to hype University of Florida. Just all around, the guy seems to love what he does and it shows.
Nuguse - doesn't have the killer instinct, all talent but no heart. Never wins the big race
Lol - getting 3rd in the Olympics is no heart / no killer instincts?
I am not saying that... that is what the haters on this board are saying. I agree with you. Finishing on the podium every time you race is amazing. I think the haters on the internet just want to see him win a race.
My bad I overlooked that part.
People who say that just haven't followed his career, he has won races - diamond league races, milerose, US Indoors 3k 2024, US outdoors 2023
He just got second in the trials by front running a 3:31 and got bronze in the Olympics. Idk what people want, he only loses to Cole Hocker in the US and oh ya he just got Gold.
Uh, who do you like? All of your comments are kind of nasty and especially so, for Nuguse.
It literally says in the OP that I don't agree with these disrespectful takes on our top athletes.
I was pointing out that this message board tends towards these kinds of rude and "nasty" judgements of our best runners. These are not my opinions but a summary of what the board seems to think...
And I posted on the first page (#7) who I liked... Jakob, Keely, Hocker and just for his friendly/chill vibe as much as his talent, Nuguse!

I hate his form, but I love watching Mantz compete.
I think people with bad form are fun to watch. It is always like a miracle that they are so good! It looks like Nuguse is knitting a sweater the way his hands are held so high and close together. But does it slow him down? No, it does not! Love the crazy form!
There is a lot of hate on this board for various current runners, former runners, and aspiring up-and-comers. That negativity is a bit exhausting for me because I tend to just ignore the athletes I don't like, but I get it, some people like to gripe and complain. Here is what Letsrun says about (though I don't agree with any of these statements, TBH):
Nuguse - doesn't have the killer instinct, all talent but no heart. Never wins the big race
Rupp - weird, DNS, DNF, Rupp-certified, worked with Alberto
Mo Farah - could only win Gold medals but never actually ran a fast time
Centro - ran the slowest 1500 in modern history; got lucky
Prefontaine - drunk driver, never won a world medal
Sydney ML - Never races, too Christian
Cooper Teare - isn't really a 1500 runner but he thinks he is
Kara Goucher - bad announcer; whiner (just because she didn't have the super shoes when the top-3 did and because Nike abandoned her to support Alberto)
Athing Mu - Never races
Noah Lyles - weird energy, covid faker, too much talking and grinnning
Jakob - can't win the 1500 gold when it counts, too arrogant, stupid tactics, faked being sick
Jessica Hull / Georgia Bell - obvious dopers, suspicious improvement
etc.
I get it. Letsrun posters don't like most runners.
So here is a thread to share the runner you do respect the most. If there is nobody who fits that bill, you don't have to post (obviously).
Who is your favorite current runner? Why?
Dakotah Lindwurm. Tough, gritty runner. Big, but not suspicious improvement from putting in the work day in and day out. Very respectable 12th place finish in Paris. Actually works (or did work) a day job. Relatable!
Currently, if I had to choose just one - I’d say Nico Young and Jessica Hull.
I respect what Jakob has done for the 1500m specifically. We won’t see any sit and kick 3:33 races as long as he toes the line which is the answer to Christian Sorato’s prayers.
Graham Blanks - stays under the radar and off social media, seems to run to his max potential every race.
+1 to Blanks. Smart and goes for it. I’ve only seen two of his races, but I’ve also been impressed by how hard working and earnest Parker Wolfe is.
Agree on Graham Blanks. The kid not afraid and gives it all everytime. I think his potential in the 10k is equal or better to what he has accomplished in the 5k so far. On the grass he’s tough as they come. Well spoken and humble. Immediately after the first heat in Paris he brought up Parker Wolfe. Classy guy and hard not to root for.
Wonder how no-one mentioned Stewart McSweyn, the ultimate frontrunner and ball-carrier ( them hanging between his legs). Always ready and happy to lead, even if it costs him placement or Q to the next round, especially the second one. Overall a really likeable guy, great competitor and runner as a whole, as well as my favorite active runner.

McSweyn’s stride is not only choppy and relatively short, but for this level of athlete, his stride is displaying some major asymmetry, which will most definitely cut into his running economy. (1) McSweyn’s right femur extend...

RunnerSam wrote: The nice thing about this sport is there are a lot of athletes who come to mind with this question. Rather than a straight answer I'll just list people who I irrationally cheer for: Stewart McSweyn, Anita Horvat, Amel Tuka, Laura Muir, Eric Holt McSweyn - Will run competitive pace whether he is in shape to or not/ grit
I did on page 3, I am surprised as well that more others didn't. I've enjoyed watching him race over the last five years. I saw him running in Budapest last summer the day after his 5000m fall but before I knew he got reinstated (maybe he knew at the time, idk) but didn't say hi because of that. I feel like he helped start the current tactic of faster running in races, champs or otherwise.
