It's not the shoes. It's not doping. We just have good athletes in the 800m again.
I can buy Nike spikes from 10 years ago for cheap, like $40, why wouldn’t I choose those over the zoom x with a 2 inch carbon plate, I mean they’re the same in terms of performance right? Like a 2010 Honda vs a 2020 one

Then if it isn’t the shoes… why are people wearing it?
Not saying we don’t have good athletes in the 800m, i said it’s worth a 1:43… pretty good in my opinion, but if you fail to look at the overal trend and stats since these spikes came out you’re missing the point
It’s like clockwork how this happens. Hopefully he screws up during the final otherwise second place might look forward to a gold upgrade in a few years.
Who, Tual? Maybe more like 5th place will be the eventual winner.
Melissa Bishop still awaits her 2016 Olympic gold in the WOMEN'S 800m....
UK runner dropping 2 seconds of PB in race, clean runner, others dropping same time 100% doppers
great point.
Or the Swede dropping to 1:43 low when he's been a perennial 1:44 guy who often ran 1:45s on the circuit; mind you, he's stopped front-running, but still . .
What makes this guy such an obvious cheater? As someone not familiar with the epo world, I don't quite understand. I watched the race and he seemed to have an absolute monster kick... But that's not automatically suspicious?

Most people die in the last 100m due to the physiological demands of the 800m distance. This guy doesn't.
Also, he's exploded on to the scene from obscurity with not much pedigree behind him.
It's not proof of doping. But these are the things that look suspicious.
Last, but not least, this is LRC, and he's North African, so that's the final nail in his coffin.
As usual, people assume the benefits of super shoes only manifests in races.
These guys can train harder and longer with reduced injury risks and faster injury recovery thanks to modern footwear, it’s not just about the spikes on race day. Why people don’t understand this shows how narrow-minded the average letsrunner is.

What do you mean by that?
Never saw such a low level of discussion.
He means that LetsRun are prejudiced against North Africans. Just because a European North African gets popped every other week (another Spanish Moroccan busted yesterday) we have no right to suspect superhuman performances from them that come out of the blue. Just because of Makhaloufi, Ramzi, and many more, we are racist if we think a North African soccer player who runs 1:41 every week, powering through the last 100m, isn't clean. Just because Morocco and Algeria are two out of a handful of 'most likely to dope' nations on WADA's rareafied list, doesn't mean a North African is any more likely to dope than an Australian or a Brit. Just because the biggest track fan in Morocco (Passant) posts here, defending dopers daily, and who still idolizes Ramzi and Katir, it says nothing about North Africans having a manifestly different attitude and culture regarding doping than most of the West.
