One that got attention this week is the wife of MTC's other coach who is on the selection committee. So like a 'mum'-like figure to Gen Gregson, the least experienced marathoner (2.29 and 2.23) who walked on in to that team with little scrutiny.
love to hear more on that. if you were going to use discretion weightman had the strongest claim
Dont think bideau had an input on womens marathon selections. My concerns are when a selector shaun creighton is a mentor and affliiated with stensons running group. It becomes a conflict of interest. Just say weightman was stenson and vice versa how would he have picked weightman as say 5th fastest and stenson 3rd fastest, that he mentors. And would then tell her ye sorry had to pick lisa as she run slower and ranked worse than you! It wouldnt happen. Stenson would still be picked. As for bideau what can I say.narsasist learnt all hes tricks off mauri plant , hes old mate.

obviously nobody has any idea here what your talking about , and nobody cares!!
Bit of some argy bargy mean girls vibes from the FTK Road to Paris episode 1 made to public, if they were in Lisa’s situation they would be doing everything they could to justify their selection so I don’t believe that integrity bs

is there new drama or you just rehashing the old stuff?

Haven’t listened but it sounds just as vile as the main FTK show, which I’ve stopped listening to. If JTW was replaced by someone half decent, FTK would be a vast improvement as Brett’s training is insightful. But until then, no thank you.
Waiting for Lisa to get the AR later in the year at an autumn marathon, which I’m more than confident she can do (and will). That’ll silence the mean girl vibe of the MTC crew.
Stenson will run well at Paris however I’m betting the other two flop.
The main takeaway from the episode was that Sinead and Gen read every comment on letsrun, which has emboldened me to start slinging mud anonymously online - an endeavour I previously considered fruitless.
To Sinead and Gen: you both deserved your place on the team, no question about it. Jess on the other hand got to go to Daegu for the cash and hide behind the excuses of a shorter buildup and greater course elevation when she could have gone to Hamburg with 3 more weeks of marathon training on a flatter course, beat Lisa’s time and rendered any debate on the team selection pointless. She risked nothing and gained everything and Lisa was seriously hard done by

What did Sinead and Gen say that indicates they read letsrun, I’m interested and surprised that Aussie elites would read letsrun

If I also believe that they read letsrun, I will happily join you in slinging mud about the MTC online.
Sinead in particular mentioned looking at LetsRun post history of people and figuring out who they are etc. It was weird...
They both kept slamming people posting under anonymous names...I mean yeah of course. If you guys are reading it and podcasting about how terrible we all are why on earth would people put names to it. Sometimes it's nice to have a good old anonymous vent about how closed off, archaic and corrupt AA is.
I understand reading untrue content about yourself would be hard, and no-one should be abusive online. But for it to be ok for us to cheer and laud you on here, but not air honest frustrations is a bad take. Especially as someone like Gen courts a social media audience. Is it only ok if we agree with everything and praise every performance and athlete? And anything else makes people a 'troll'?

So does I’m guess Sinead was reading the thread about the selection controversy, and then trying to figure out who the posters in that thread are, because some may have mentioned details about their own racing/coaching/where they train?
wild that Olympians include reading letsrun threads as part of their build up to the Olympics. the stuff said on here has no weight on selection - wouldn't be wasting any energy or time.

it’s human nature. if you knew a group of people where talking about you wouldn’t you at least be a little bit curious about what they’re saying?

The irony is Sinead switched allegiance from Ireland because she felt she had been hard done by over selection policies. And Gen waged a whole social media campaign to be selected in 2012 after hitting the A standard after AA closed the window.
But suddenly they all have faith that AA “got it right”. 100% they would be challenging this if they were in Lisa’s shoes.

I don’t blame them for focusing on what’s good for them - if I were on the fringe of olympic selection I would advocate for what is good for me, and then 4 years later I would advocate for the opposite if it was to my benefit, and I wouldn’t care if that made me a hypocrite.
Though unlike Sinead and Gen, I wouldn’t start a podcast and try to delude myself that I am a good person, I just wouldn’t care about doing things that are for my own benefit.
Didn’t Whipp end up leaving Athletics Australia with those new agent rules, and Bideau didn’t?
Whipp complied with ethics obligations and left AA to continue as an agent. NB kept the AA duties and had his lackey CB step in to "take over" his agent duties.

100% agree with this. If you think that you are immune to any criticism and people aren't entitled to an opinion then that just screams arrogance to me. The fact they are doing a podcast, paying attention to forums etc says a lot. Shouldn't they just be focusing on their builds and staying away from anything negative.

Just had a listen to this. "Mean girls" is too harsh, but they just seem unprepared for even the slightest public analysis of themselves as athletes. Sinead literally said that it was a personal attack to make any reference to her Valencia world record time being in 2022 and potentially too long ago. Crikey. She wouldn't last long as a pro footy player.
I don't know about anyone else in this forum but I genuinely liked Sinead, Jess and Gen before all this stuff went down. I've enjoyed listening to them on various other podcasts over the years (including inside running) share their insights and have some banter but the way in which this situation has played out, and the girls' responses to it via their new podcast has left a really bad taste in my mouth. I definitely won't be paying attention to the women's marathon at the olympus now.
