Not sure about cross country, but it’s not the Daniels book like so many. For track Power took Iggy’s notebook of Ben Thomas workouts from his time at Oregon. It seems to have worked as they did have some 1500 success in time trial races.

Is the implication that they are running ‘17’ miles during the base phase? Because then most of the team is just ignoring him and doing other training. I don’t know nuthin about the Olaf coach, but I’ve run with a bunch of their team and most of the guys were doing 70-100 mile weeks. We didn’t really talk about the coach, but if he’s telling them to do this mileage nobody’s listening and they are following some other plan and just humoring him.
None of those guys are running 100 mile weeks. I remember them openly mocking Bowman for doing that. Power is a low, low mileage coach. Almost sprint volume. That is one reason all of Phil's athletes had such a difficult time with the transition. I also think that's why Bocovich has had such success at his new school. He's crushing long runs at much faster paces. I'd expect the same of Kelly once he adapts to the altitude.
I think you’re right in that they humor his delusions. Olaf is a good school and I could see going there and just following what I know to be better training while making the coach feel like I am listening to what he says in order to get a good degree and have nominal running success.
No way you’re getting into Olaf with a run-on sentence like that.
If you Google chat gpt cross country plan this exact training program comes up. So either Power uses Chat GPT or he steals his training from the internet. Pretty interesting news either way.
You have to admit someone going to the extent of using Chat GPT to mock Power's training is hilarious. I almost feel bad for him. But I've met him and that's enough.
Lars doesn’t have XC eligibilit. Interestingly, due to his Nordic days, he could Indoor eligibility until 2029!
I do think Calvin will be more of a challenge to Bati than anyone in recent years, but Bati is undefeated in MIAC meets. You have to give him credit for that.
I also suspect we’ll see a random Ole that nobody has ever heard of slide in to get All-MIAC honors. That seems to be par for the course for Power’s teams.
How badly will Mac have to run at confo for Schofer to lose coty? I think if they fall to 5th someone else gets it. Ricks if they win Miles if they get top 2?
Alternatively, how well would the Ole men have to run for power to win

Miles retired last summer, but I know what you mean. Mac not being top 3 loses that honor, despite how much the program has improved in such a short time.
I'd say Ricks if they win and maybe even if they're super close for second since they won't have the advantage of racing on a home course.
How they weren't top 5 in the country with Bocovich, Curtis, Kelly, Lyford, Sagedahl, Kosche, , Arne, & Lynn is the biggest waste of running talent. Add in guys like Skemp, Stresemann, Cassidy and yet another Coffey and you just have ask what the heck is going on.

To be fair, when all those older guys were at their peak, they couldn't even beat Carleton and Carleton wasn't a top five with an actual Olympian.
