Didn’t el g lose a 1500 and place like 9th before going on to win the Olympic gold, I think it’s safe to say Jakob will be okay
Don't know why this got a downvote - in 2004 El G actually lost two races over 1500m before heading into Athens. The first one was in Rome - ironically his favorite track, where he was incredibly 8th in a race won by none other than Rashid Ramzi, and then he lost to Lagat in Zurich just two weeks before Athens where both ran in the 3.27's (3.27.40 vs 3.27.64)
If Jakob doesn't win Saturday he will be as you said, absolutely fine - it may even be a blessing.

Based on his flotrack workout from earlier this month Jakob is ready to go. 12x400 62 low and 10x200 26 high. Also at 6900 feet. He might be vulnerable in a championship 1500 but he’s not losing a paced mile

not sure what about that screams unbeatable, seemed pretty meh honestly but that's what he was going for so it was a fine workout

Agree. He finished the 400s on the ground gasping for air like it was a 3K pace workout or faster, and his blood lactate was higher than he wanted. He's not there yet.
Then again, no one who has designs on Gold should be in peak form yet.
