No such thing as "wiping out debt." It is simply "transferring debt." The $138 billion will be paid regardless. Who is paying it is all that changes.
I should get a check for being responsible and living in a cheap apartment with a roommate and paying it off, not buying a new car once I got a full time job, and not racking up credit card debt buying things I don't need and going on trips when I didn't have much money.
So many people my age right after college were doing all those things and I know they had more student loan debt than me, and yet they were complaining about the loans and hoping they got canceled.
