Seriously, people in the blue cities are considering their options should Trump win re-election. Many of them simply have no interest in living in a country run by an uncontrolled Republican Party.
I know many people trying to get European passports just in case it's time to leave. I would do it if I had the chance.
I'm not saying that's what's happening here, but could be.

It could well be. we have record number if passport applications pretty much every year since Brexit
But the fact she told WA means she intends to compete in some manner. Generally in ireland if you can make a quota spot and hit a B standard set by athletics Ireland you get to represent the country

Tell us more about this Irish Tax system, I'm all ears
I am sure Mary Cain is not in any elite shape anywhere fast enough to be competing for the Irish. She very likely got advice from her ultra-wealthy family's advisor at BBR wealth management, who also just so "happen" to be Mary Cain's main sponsor at Atalanta NYC. Evan Roth is the CEO of BBR wealth management and is the head board member of Mary Cain's whimsical Atalanta NYC.
With switching allegiance and the Irish tax system, the goal is to avoid paying American taxes to the IRS by claiming income is earned in Ireland even though you live in America, have no job in Ireland, and rarely if ever step foot in Ireland. You basically register a shell company in Ireland and then have all your American income and "donations" go to that Irish bank account owned by the shell company you control. As long as Mary Cain claims the American money was earned by the Irish shell company and she doesn't try to move the money back to an American bank, she pays no American taxes. And she will pay very little tax to the Irish because the rates are so low over there.
With all that American money laundered to an Irish shell company, you can then do what all ultra-rich people do and launder it further to other shell companies to make "investments".

The Double Irish was closed in 2010.
Most high net worth Irish people like U2 and Denis O'Brien moved their tax affairs out of this country.
If Mary wanted to move Atalanta as a corporation to Ireland and use it as a tax vehicle she could do so with an irish director and would not have to advise world athletics of anything. WA to the best of my knowledge don't include tax compliance as a pre requesite for anything, but to represent Ireland Mary would need to be a citizen and not have represented another country for 3 years

This crossed my mind as well, and it’s true many people are considering leaving if Trump is elected. However, not sure if this is the case for her. Did anyone read the CNN article about her and another runner recently? it was about REDs.
She's yesterday days news. She never broke 4 min in the 1500 or 15 minutes in the 5000. Now the 5000 record is a minute and forty-five seconds faster than her 5000 PB. Her real problem was her mindset, psychologically weak and didn't know how to work hard.
