The disparity in incentives between developed and developing countries is profound. In a nation like Kenya, a moderately successful career in running can create wealth that spans generations. In contrast, in the United States, the same level of success in running might only afford a few years of an upper-middle-class lifestyle.
Incentives matter.
Given such a stark difference, expecting an equitable playing field in this context seems unrealistic.
The one thing we can be assured of is that when a female African runner beats 28minutes - and at this rate it will be within about a year - it will still just be "talent, training and shoes". Oh - and "nutrition". Running fans are no different from WWE fans.

In a nutshell, the incentives for Kenyans and other African athletes to dope are much greater.

Greater incentive for them to do everything, train, maintain ridiculous body composition, etc.
Believe me, when there is generational wealth on the line, Americans cheat like mad too. I used to be a tax accountant for Deloitte, so I can assure you of this. :)
The ranting, The hatred, The stereotyping, the rumour mongering, the lies towards Jebet portrayed on this board shows how moronic and barbaric human beings can be towards their fellow human achievements. It's so ironical when whites break records and aren't subjected to such hate as when Kenyans or Africans do the same. There's a class of dark hearted individuals who believe that all Kenyans dope, all Kenyans can't break records and all Kenyans can't win races. Such a disillusioned mindset. You better heal from that disease!!!!

Good point. But just look little bit further: at this rate women will run faster than men before the end of the decade. And within this century they will run negative times. How is this possible? - Doping!!
How many times do you want to be told she represented Kenya in 10000m world champs last year in 2023 at Budapest having won the trials in Kenya which in itself is as good as winning a global championship. Also this year and last year cross country circuits she has been winning against seasoned 10k top competitors from Kenya and Ethiopia so obviously she is on form and those statistics you highlighted are irrelevant and out of date not true reflection of her abilities. This was a second attempt at the 10K record she had attempted it last year as well so she knew she was capable of it.

You're jumping the gun. No way, no way a female beats 28:00/10,000 on the track for a long time, if ever. That's another, completely different level. I can see Hassan, Gidey (or their successors) and a few others running 13:45/28:30 on the track though, within next 2-3 years.
Valencia road course, (substantial slight downhill for 5-8 km, it seems, watching the video), while it may be accurate in terms of distance is anomalous when it comes to true worth which can only be accurately measured on the track. Take Agnes, for example - she went through 5km in 14:12 - can she run faster than that on the track? Very doubtful. I'd put her at about 14:19, like Monson, for a pb track 5000.
Saying women will run sub 28:00/10,000 track seems ridiculous, with all due respect. Why not go a step further, a sub 28:00/10,000 runner (Japanese men elites) runs 2:06:00/2:07:00 marathon. That means those women running 27:55-27:59, would also have that 2:06:00/2:07:00 marathon potential. Not going to happen, if ever, in our lifetime. If wrong I'd be delighted.
People are pointing fingers and suggesting doping, but I think the more likely story here if the race isn't legit is a short course. All the finishers on the women's side ran a fair bit faster than would be expected, which IMO points more towards short course than doping
Not to be rude but, this is absolutely NOT the case.
Buffoons down liking my comment but applauding this: "Weini Kelati Sets New American Half Marathon Record!"
The kind of hypocrisy in some creatures though!!! Ooh Mama Africa, one day we shall overcome this white syndrome of hatred towards us especially matters to do athletics!!!
If she was wearing a top end super shoe she there would be the possibility of shoes only. these are not super super shoes, so she is either the most extreme outlier in running history or on drugs.
Except the East Bloc were dominating literally every Olympic sport while you lot claim Kenya has a cutting-edge doping programme that apparently only works for running and no other sport. What you've been pushing is that Kenyans are supposedly inferior runners boosted by pharmaceuticals only Kenyans use and the rest of the world hasn't discovered. Ludicrous.
Kenyans scarcely participate in any other sport. Their athleticism is suited to little else.
Not true.
We are the best in Africa in women's volleyball.
We were the African country at the Olympics- Tokyo.
We are among the best in 15 a side Rugby (men) and we are among the best in cricket in Africa (men).
Keino cheated Ryun out of Olympic gold in Mexico. Keino was the most obvious doper until Ramzi came along.
1/ Kenya did not dominate until EPO.
2/ Kenyan success (not domination) before EPO can be attributed to doping (roids and blood transfusions) and the fact that Kenyans (and other East Africans) were effectively full-time pro athletes competing until their mid or late thirties while Western runners were part-time amatuers who usually were forced to retire at their peak and get a job (Bannister, Elliott, Snell, Ryun etc etc.).
Weini Kelati is subject to USADA testing and 1:06:25 is not anything shocking for a woman, whereas 28:46 on the roads (equivalent to maybe 1:02 half) is far beyond the world track record and hence completely ridiculous.
As others have pointed out on this thread, Agnes Ngetich's recent run seems very similar to Wang Junxia's 29:31 in 1993. I used to believe that coach Ma Junren's special diet for his athletes, including turtle soup, fueled their incredible performances. Haha. I used to be less cynical. It is actually rather surprising that advances in performance enhancing drugs have not been even greater in the last 30 years, especially as the new technological doping through the ridiculous unsporting shoe technology that Nike lawyers were able to make legal. Sure, there are some racists on let's run, but it is absolutely not racist to be skeptical of performances like Wang Junxia, Agbes Ngetich, or Paula Radcliffe.
