What do you want to see on LetsRun in 2024?!

As someone who was in the sport long before LR started, and who has seen the boards evolve (though I have rarely participated in them), I was honestly pretty disgusted by the the MB back in the day. I only recently started looking at the MB again, and it is MUCH better moderated than it was in the past. The MB used to feel like a middle school or high school boys' locker room on - well - steroids. It was gross and stupid. There is a lot more legit posting now. Perfect? Of course not. But soooooo much more legit posting about actual running. Of course there are still plenty of horny male running nerds with lots of crackpot theories, throwing baseless and defamatory accusations and people and talking sh*t about runners that the posters could never begin to aspire to be. But I want to laud the brothers Jo for making the effort, and that effort showing significant results.
So what would I like to see? Continued monitoring to keep the boards on point. Political BS should be posted on other websites.
And Gault is a class act.

Half of the athletes in this sport are women, and most are people of color, yet the LR staff providing commentary are all white men. That makes no sense.

As an example, just think of some of the issues that have come up regarding women in this sport in the past few years: transgender and DSD athletes in women's races, Allyson Felix advocating for more supportive policies and resources for mothers, Dina Asher-Smith calling for more research on how menstrual cycles affect female athletes, Elle Purrier St. Pierre coming back from maternity leave, the allegations about Colorado's policy on weight brough forward by a female runner, the Mary Cain - Salazar case, etc. I think it's appropriate to get women's perspectives on these topics.

I agree with this. On RW, Jennifer Hadfield was an expert and columnist on a regular basis... she was also a running trainer. They used to have another "expert" on there who used to document her training in articles as someone learning to run her first marathon, etc.

I admire the Letsrun dedication to the sport. One suggested improvement: put everything that's not related to running in a separate sub-forum. These discussions are often irrelevant to your mission and lower the level of discourse. Slowtwitch has a separate Lavender Room for all non-sports discussions and it really helps fence off the finger-pointing and name-calling.

The weekly podcasts are GOLD. You all add such unique flavors and perspectives. Love it.
I'd love to see more podcast interviews (that could also be turned into print). Every other running centered page, site, or social tells mostly feel good stories. You guys focus on the nerds and we love you for it. Interview an old timer and discuss training. Interview an up and comer and let them share their passion and training.

Don't allow unregistered users to start a thread. Too many threads have the same users posting under different names, often in a personal attack on someone.

Isn't Rojo more interested in smoking Chavez rather than coaching him? Rojo recently suggested a mile "match race" vs the Citiusmag boss to squelch the "woke insanity that comes out of that outfit."

How about make the "running only" (ie Only Show Running Threads) as the default to help filter and clean the place up.

If newcomers and short-timers don't descend here to find a bunch of bogus threads about random crap, that will pick up the quality. No one really *wants* those threads to exist, they just exist because of boredom and online bias.

Can we drastically reduce the political talk? It's dividing us.

How about a 10k or half marathon event in London. I'd go.

There were lots of times in 2023 when I catch myself thinking about leaving Letsrun because of 1) rampant right-wing, fox news-esque mania about transgender stuff, 2) the threads bumped to the front page about asking girls out, getting dates with girls, not understanding girls, etc., and 3) thread posts that are discriminatory, bigoted, etc.

It's not that I'm even super liberal or anything like that. I'd consider myself more middle of the road. But this toxic stuff is really tiring on a site where I'm usually looking to escape political bs from either side.
