I ran track in high school in the then West Suburban Conference(nine teams) during the late 1970s. I was a respectable runner (2:03.8 800 Meters 4:47 1600 meters(at 200 pounds). During the indoor meets at Proviso West , Newton would run along the interior of the track and yell at the York HS runners: "If you don't win this race--you're gonna regret it for the rest of your life!" It never bothered me, and I don't think it bothered the York runners either. Nevertheless , a rule was instituted --dubbed the "Newton Rule"--that coaches could not be in the infield of the track and shadow the runners. The rule was instituted --not because of student complaints--but reflected changes in society--some for good --others not so much.
He was on a Stanford XC team that dominated the NCAA meet in 2004? Or 2005? Great runner at Stanford and great dude!! Crazy seeing everyone grown up now
I heard he helped start AirBNB.
