Cross country strength is very different from the track and fast track speed over 5,000 ten thousand meters does not necessarily translate well in these arduous conditions.

Dr Schrub to win, I think
Schrub now has a gap over Milner, Norwegian Myrhe 3rd
Jakob with 2/3 of a sacrum would've won be 40 seconds in this race.
I'm wondering if there are rules against grabbing railings - nothing should be done or enforced in these circumstances but it would seem to be an advantage
Hendrix has joined the medal scrap!
Norway has a contender in the race still
Hendrix fading a bit and Kimeli rallying!
Oh no Britain gets the wooden spoon medal! 4th for Milner.
Hard to follow at the finish, think it was Myrhe 2nd Hendrix 3rd?
Myhre 2nd
I'm crying for Augusto but hats off to him for rallying on until the finish but I don't know where he finished.

Jakob would have had a walk in the park with this race
Schrub is a guy I don't really notice when he places top 10 at the world championships, but really outclassed the field here, he made it look so easy

Christensen shockingly comes back and pips it on the line from Laros with Griggs third.
Not on the line. At least 50m out.
Myhre trains somewhat often with the ingebrigtsen brothers. I’m not surprised to see him running so well. I think Norwegians in general do well in difficult conditions like today given a childhood (generally speaking) of being outside in most all conditions.
Brilliant performances from the top 3! Schrub finally becomes a European champ, and the Norwegian Magnus Tuv Mhyre finally gets an amazing silver after placing 4th in the U23 race in Dublin two years ago. Hendrix of Belgium may have been the biggest surprise of the medalists, I won’t lie I had kind of written him off based on past championships performances, but this really shows how unpredictable XC can be. Shoutout to Henrik Ingebrigtsen on placing 12th, and more so to John Heymans (unsponsored Belgian athlete) on placing sixth, brilliant stuff today.

How incredible for Myhre. He was a 13:27 runner last year (in 2022) and 13:38 the year before that !!!!
isnt he still the fourth member of their training group? When he was interviewed in the podcast - ”i det lange löp” he was speaking about how tired he had been trying to adapt to their training (specifically running at 3:40 m/km pace on easy runs)

I don’t know if I’d award him the 4th horseman just yet, but I know he does camps with the ingebrigtsens in Spain. He also trains with Ferdinand Tror, Simen Haugen, etc.
