Does anyone else think some of coopers post race interview comments about Jerry were a little disrespectful? Yes, it is very easy to not be a fan of Jerry but I think that as his athlete he shouldnt make it seem like he doesnt trust or believe in his coach… idk I like cooper and think he’s a great personality but he seems slightly disrespectful just because jerrys ways don’t work for him.
Maybe he doesn’t believe in Jerry any more. After all, it was Jerry who blindsided BTC pro athletes when he up and left to UofO. It was Jerry who deemphasized his focus on BTC. It was Jerry who fit the pros schedule into his NCAA schedule. Cooper may be the most recent BTC athlete to move on. He won’t be the last.

Jerry is literally being paid to make Cooper improve.
If Jerry fails in his job, why should Cooper not say so?
Almost everyone in that group that has had success didn't have a great first year. It takes a few years and I know he knows that cause plenty of BTC athletes have spoken extensively about this. Cooper was already bashing Jerry in the indoor season. You can't blame Jerry if he was never given a legit chance to develop Cooper.
I wouldn’t be surprised, he seems a bit flaky and noncommittal to the automaton lifestyle required to be a truly world class professional runner. An interview he gave after an indoor race made it seem through his tone and body language that he was not fully bought in into the BTC philosophy. He may get a handful of decent national level results but he is not the world level I thought he could be.
Well next year Cooper turns 25 in August. The year that these guys turned 24-25 they did this:
Galen Rupp 26:48 (25)
Alan Webb 3:46 (24)
Grant Fisher 12:46,26:33 (25)
So while Cooper is still relatively young the window is only a few years usually to be great on the track.
Not anymore, with all the assists, you can run and PR well into your 30s now.
It’s more about building consistency and routine, that’s the issue.
Teare needs to double down on one event if he wants to get better. Losing is important because it tells you more about your own ability. If he keeps focusing on short term results he’ll likely stay a 3:32/13:0x guy.

One thing losing taught him this year is that he might be an OK American-leaguer, but he is sure far from being 'good' in international standards. Monaco was a disaster.
Nike is slowly unwinding BTC. Giving Jerry the Oregon job was step one of getting him off their payroll since Houlihan got popped. Will probably disband during Paris similar to when Alberto got the boot during/shortly after Doha world champs. Everyone will continue to roll off.
Why do people keep parroting this nonsense when Nike is literally doing the exact opposite. Just signed Charles Hicks from Stanford, Duncan Hamilton and added Justyn Knight. Nike wants to funnel all the top HS talent to Oregon and then to BTC. They are even starting with NIL deals for High Schoolers to get them locked into the Nike ecosystem before moving up the ranks.
Absolutely nothing they have done indicates they are winding down BTC. Why would they be signing big names if they plan on shutting down next year?
Have you worked in corporate america before? Jerry will become persona non-grata a la Alberto - Nike will look the other way and they will have these wayward souls on contract looking for somewhere to land just like NOP (while simultaneously claiming they never really worked with Jerry.) It's better to sign them than these guys wearing another logo. I'm sure they THINK they will be a part of BTC but positive drug tests don't go away, most of your talent malcontent and leaving doesn't go away. Where there is smoke and all.

Most contracts are up after paris. No final decisions are made, plenty of time for Jerry to rebuild enough good will to stay on and no doubt Nike has multiple contingency plans identified to continue to develop top North American talent.

You wrote “not anymore,” and you sound like one of those delusional people who say 50 is the new 30. You either aren’t very bright ir you simply missed my point. Almost no US runners are running their best times in their 30s in the 1500m or 5000m. Lagat is not your typical US runner and he had not explored the 5000m much when younger. Woody is an unusual case also. So Cooper does not have much time but the odds are he is not quite good enough to be a player on the international stage. We shall see.

You put far to much credence in Nike actually knowing what to do, caring what to do, executing what to do. And Jerry wanting to do too much of anything with respect to BTC now that he has a lucrative university coaching job.
BTC should be living and training at altitude, structured around a professional racing calendar, with appropriate resources dedicated to their success and not treated as an add on to be formatted into an NCAA schedule with very little support.

On his pod, Grant said he didn't finish a full workout without getting pulled his whole first year. Then breakthru
Also why Oregon redshirted the whole team last year
