Well done, loved your post and the spelling of the names.
.....
Or
It could be you a a racist hell bent on scandalizing two athletes simply because of the color of their and their coach's skin. You come up with idiotic scenario with no proof; however, they remain two of the sports biggest stars with or without me and you approval or following.
So many racist and unjustified dope allegations that I now wish them a long career and even more successful career in athletics!
No, you racist. What's your probably answering to is a bunch of guys who probably are white men who are wanting to appreciate the tremendous Talent both these athletes have. They help sell the sport when they compete.
Our sport is in bad need of being promoted having lost Usain Bolt. To have these women listening to a some svengali like Bobby Kersee, hurts the sport. Sponsors lose interest, the public loses interest. Meanwhile, us old white guys, you know the ones who actually buy tickets and have our companies support the sport, are just hoping to see these fabulous athletes compete.
If they were both competing those "bunch of guys" would be rooting against them and hoping they get beat by Bol and Keely. This has been the case since the moment they started winning and stealing the spotlight. Sorry, but this message board's history proves your statement to be disingenuous
I love how Syd and Athing have so many old guys getting their tighty whities in a bunch. Multiple, foaming-at-the-mouth threads. All a big circle jerk since for disgruntled 'fans' since Athing and Syd are off living their best lives in style.
?????????
QUESTIONS:
Who are the "Old Guys"? and why are their tighty whities in a bunch?
Disgruntled 'fans'? Are these the same track and field fans that appreciate world class talent and appreciate two amazing women athletes and only like to see them run...AND WIN!
"Living their best lives in style"? Hmmm...Did you by chance see the Syd M self interview she did in her car after her gold medal/WR performance at the Olympics. It was pretty sad and depressing. She'd just accomplished what arguably is the GREATEST achievement in track for ANY athlete, to win the Olympic Gold Medal while at the same time breaking the WR, and she's crying about how no one around her, including family and friends don't really care. This is a very conflicted person at the very least. That being said, if Syd M is now in a good place and has just realized or is realizing that athletics is not the end all and be all in life that's ok by me, but to say she's "living her best life" is a bit premature. I believe your "best life" is free from heavy expectations from family, friends, coaches, sponsors and fans to succeed and finish what you started. To not look in the mirror everyday and ask "Am I doing all I can to reach my absolute potential?, Am I being soft and taking for granted a God given talent in which I only have a micro-sized window to take advantage of? Maybe both women need time off to reflect a bit and get their heads right. I'm good with that. Unlike Syd M, I believe A Mu is too young and distracted and doesn't appreciate what she has accomplished and if she doesn't compete at worlds ( I think she will), she will regret it the rest of her life.
Either way, I ain't losing sleep about it. I'll enjoy the other amazing athletes and what they'll accomplish in Budapest. Life is short and one's athletics career is even shorter. DING, DING, DING...Answer the bell and LFG!!!!!!
Except that in 8-9 months NBC will be fawning over them and work arduously to create a narrative for them and have them as their center piece for their broadcast.
Why? They probably are. Most pro runners are doping. Once I heard about what the bucket of pills the Oregon runners take and the prednisone loop holes, that changed my entire perspective.
they ended their season right after world last year and skipped the indoor and outdoor season this year to focus on Worlds and now they are skipping on Worlds to focus on the Olympics. What’s next? What exudes will they come up with next for not racing? Skipping on the Olympics to focus on breaking the WR? How are people still a fan of these “athletes”? They never race! Are you just a fan of their illusion? A fan of their potential? I’ve honestly lost interest in following both of them. I hope they retire soon because they’re doing more damage than good to the sport and it’s fan base.
They should just skip everything and train through until 2028
Take drugs out of the equation. They both can still be tested without competing at Worlds by random testing. They already completed in meet(s) plus the USA Championships in which they most likely were tested.
Not really. It is a huge difference being just a subject to USADA testing than to travel overseas and be subject to other testing agencies.
this is a quite a situation. i'm just another old white dude, so take that for what it's worth here....but i also consider myself a big fan of both athletes. i've thought for a few years now that mu was a lock to break the dirty 800 record, but after watching this season play out, i'm having my doubts.
i'm just disappointed and suspicious about it all, mainly because i don't trust kersey either. i listen to this baloney about a "knee injury" and "maybe she won't run" and it just smells. kind of like salazar with cain/hasay. different situation, but the one parallel is a egomaniac coach with a dubious ethical history. you sensed something weird was up with salazar and i do here with kersey as well.
i think more old timers (like me) would be a bit more likely to give the benefit of doubt if there was a different coach pulling the strings.
and yeah, i think these two ladies also give the impression that they're not as passionate about their profession as they might be, but i also know that elites of my era did not have to deal with the crucible of letsrun, social media, etc. not to mention repugnant nbc coverage that presents the lives and careers of american athletes as no more than a soap opera. i might want a break from that too, i don't know...
Skipping a meet in August does not mean you'll be 'fresher' or whatever next summer. Really I'd say it would do the opposite, skipping competition this summer will make them have a tougher time getting back to top race sharpness next year.
I'm no psychologist and I've never sniffed the top of the sport, but there is a mental condition that when one reaches the pinnacle of their sport after years of preparation and sacrifice, they simply say, Is that all there is? Then quit. David Duval (golf) is a perfect example.
This is the only logical explanation, or that coach has really just lost it and the athletes are brainwashed. He stays ahead of the testing info curve and saw some danger ahead.

They will have that ready for the broadcast at World's.
