Really? Wiley is suddenly and out of nowhere able to run the 800m faster than Rose, Willis and Whitaker. All were dominant 800m runners in high school who have had small but steady pr gains. Meanwhile Wiley takes full seconds off her pr. Why? Because she is doing the same thing the Soviet era and Chinese runners who predominate the u23 800 list did.
The sad part is that even the most blatant dopers are very hard to catch. We all knew Houlihan was doping but it took years before she blundered. Hopefully the prosecutor in Nick's case will offer him a sentence reduction if he sings. I like that idea. I have to email the DA's office about it tomorrow. maybe I will cc the AIU.

Mary Cain was also a miler who improved from 2:03 to 1:59 in one jump. It's not that uncommon for a young athlete to see major improvement in an event they don't run as frequently. Wiley ran 4:26 in HS so a 1:59 doesn't seem that out of line.
But your bitterness and hatred towards this young woman is pathetic. Maybe she is doping, maybe not. If she makes the Olympic team next year who will you root against - Addy or the East Africans?

And that 4:26 in June 2022 (last summer) was a 12 SECOND PR at the time. Subtle, right?
Astro, Everyone knows you think she's on drugs. We don't need you repeating it over and over and over in every single thread about her. Say it once at most per thread. I'm going to ask the programmer if he can ban you from posting in any wiley thread if you keep it up.
Thank you, Rojo, Astro’s unhealthy obsession to condemn her is out of control. It’s uncomfortable to witness the unhinged rantings of psychopath saying the same things over and over in order to harm a young up-and-comer who has been dealt a difficult hand. She’s one of our most promising runners and does not deserve this treatment. Further, enabling Astro’s compulsive behavior is detrimental to his/her personal well-being as well.

I agree. Astro's ramblings are a bit much. He/she really needs to be muzzled.
That said, as promising as Wiley is, there will always be the perception that she isn't clean as long as she is associated with the Johnsons. Personally I hope that she is clean but I have my own doubts simply because of her association with the Johnsons and the fact that she reneged on Colorado. I would like to see her get out of the Huntington bubble and do as well as she is doing now. If she can do that, I'll be a huge fan.
Having top quality runners from the United States can only be a good thing for fans of the sport in the US. I'll never understand why people root against runners from their own country.
The same Mary Cain who was running for Salazar and the NOP? Well then. What a tangled web. I root against cheating. Sorry.
Anyway, in the interest of being a good citizen, I will not post on this subject again. Carry on. I look forward to seeing what the future has in store.
Do you say the same thing about Mareno and Tyynismaa?
It is hard to tell if you're responding to me and my statement of their always being the perception of Wiley doping, and understandably so, as long as she is associated with the Johnsons or it you are responding to astro and his comment about Cain & Salazar.
If you are responding to me, no, I don't feel the same about Mareno & Tyynismaa. The reason that I don't feel the same about them is because they are with a coach & a program that is not associated with doping or under the suspicion of having athletes that dope.
If you're referring to Mareno's & Tyynismaa's prior commitments to Stanford & Alabama, respectively, the situations are not analogous to that f Wiley & Colorado.
Again, I hope Wiley is clean and if she can replicate her performances with a different coach while getting different guidance, I'll be a lot more convinced that she is clean.

Really good post! It’s fair to have suspicions. Every runner who runs a great time can be doubted these days. Unless there is pretty strong evidence, I typically choose to give the benefit of the doubt. Wiley’s super fast start as a freshman in HS holds a lot of weight for me. As far as deciding against Colorado, of course, it would have been better for her to go there and run the same times. But, anyone who can’t fathom that she could have solid (non drug) reasons to stay in her small town home in Huntington is just not looking at it comprehensively or fairly.
Like you, I’d love to see her move on from Huntington group, and I think the best way for her to do that would be for her to keep improving. Ideally, she’d be offered money to run with one of the professional groups when she is ready. I look forward to seeing her do even more awesome than she is!
