Those guys just seem like the type who love finally getting to be the cool guys around 17 year old girls even though they’re 25.
This, exactly. I personally know most of the New Gen guys, and even was hanging out with them when they first created the camp. Year one was pretty awesome, the kids were chosen based purely on their ability and desire to bring some cool content and fresh perspectives to the sport. The camp was run fairly professionally, and they learned a lot.
Now, years down the road, it’s completely changed. They hand-pick top high schoolers based more on running ability and clout, most of whom have formed strangely personal relationships with these guys in their mid 20s. The camp is basically a glorified week-long party unsupervised by anyone, and it’s all pretty unstructured. It’s pretty creepy, you get the feeling there may be alcohol involved as well. Who knows what could be happening there.
They definitely think they’re the “cool kids” of the sport, as if they’re somehow different from anyone else. I don’t associate with them at all anymore, they’re just very immature and cocky. And honestly I do know Ben has some pretty ignorant views that just aren’t fun to be around. Not the type of guy I feel good about influencing impressionable kids. Just thinks he can say gross things and pass them off as jokes.
What goes around comes around. And if these families with clout got wind of it, and read about it, they hopefully wise up and don't send their kids here anymore. Unless the wealthy families bury their heads in the sand. The public does not know much about LRC so that's an issue and the local papers probably won't touch it.

The pictures are pretty cringe (as is most of Ben Crawford's content), but I couldn't imagine feeling angry because of them. If that angers you, I'd seek therapy.
I'm pretty sure that Crawford is currently dating a female professional runner. I'm not going to drag her name into this, but if the relationship progresses I'm sure we'll see a hard launch from them eventually.

Hey if New Gen sends out a post-camp survey, maybe suggest getting some real media professionals, like the citius content camp does, to advise the young campers campers rather than 25 year old men that think they are experts despite being a start up who run a tiny YouTube channel and have no professional overhead??
I find it bizarre that Emma Gee tried to get herself involved in creating a bunch of drama and then being the victim. The teens who did the photoshoot obviously see it differently than her, so maybe she should mind her own business and focus on her career.
That being said, the comments sent by the unknown anonymous instagram account were disgusting and she did not deserve that garbage to be said to her.
Also bizarre - the cancel culture keyboard warriors trying to harass the photographer and tag a bunch of brands. What are you people doing ? Close the apps and go outside and train.
I'm happy you got ratio'ed for this. Calling out something in your sphere that you think is unacceptable doesn't have to equal "creating a bunch of drama and then being the victim." That would only be if what she was calling out was harmless or easily explained with further context. But I think only 10% of people on here were like yeah this image of a girl shoved in a locker and getting a swirly is totally cool and we want to see. So no she shouldn't "shut up and dribble" on this one, if she feels it's a negative message they're putting out. There's obviously a line here, but I have no reason to believe this is about performative outrage from the runner here.

Most people active in this thread are likely the excitable outrage type looking for righteous anger towards the evil bogeymen, so not concerned with downvotes. Downvotes don't subtract from the validity of a post.
Hey if she wants to spend her free time arguing with teenagers on instagram that's her choice, seems bizarre and a complete waste of time. My eighteen year old self definitely would not have been worth engaging in any of these dialogues, and also would not have been receptive to adults trying to weigh in on what my friends and I create and post in our free time (we made music, not photos/art).
That anyone would be proud of a bunch of boring insta-filtered pictures such as these is sad, but whatever. I just know that no one I know will be purchasing any On products from now on.

Nothing condescending, it's just a way of saying a ton more people disagree with you than agree. What she did brought attention to the posts, started a conversation and got them taken down. Far less of a waste of time than you dragging her on LetsRun anonymously. The people behind this are also not all dumb teenagers, which I'm sure you know. So you're misrepresenting this. It's also going on a social account that has a lot of followers of many ages. Many are impressionable and if you made offensive, dumb music did you have 26K followers checking it out? If so, whether you'd appreciate adults weighing in or not, it would've been part of the deal. Also "our free time," aren't the creative minds behind this making a living and running a business to some degree. So, in general the "let teenagers do dumb stuff" defense falls flat on many levels from the platform this is on to the actual people pulling the strings.
New Gen has got to be the biggest joke in running. They talk about growing the sport when all they do is take pop culture and make it cringy in the running world. Ben is also a creep who buys alcohol for high schoolers. Dude literally had nothing else going for him so he's just going to follow around boys in short shorts since they are the only ones who find him cool. dont even get me started on evert...but cole is a real one
Hey, if you don't mind, I really am curious about what the vision for this camp is and why it's branded as a running camp and a media/creative camp. I don't understand what the purpose of bringing running talents and creatives together in a camp is, beyond just promoting NGTF. You could read my post on page 3 if you haven't yet.
I would really be curious about your perspective on the camp. Were you a running talent or a creative there? I assume you had to apply to go? Do you know if everyone there (including sahlman, burns, burnbaum, etc.) applied or were invited? How did you see your relationship with the people running the camp? More as friends or were they in a mentorship/authority position to the people there?
I am skeptical of the camp, but I want to hear your view on it and respect that, if you're willing to share.
New Gen and Citius always talking about growing the sport. Ok they have been around for a few years how have they grown the sports? Citius does provide some decent content but this is nothing we have not seen before. Are they attracting new fans to the sports? Well ticket sales at USA's says no

They're obviously having fun at a camp. Everyone is saying that Ben and the whole camp is creepy like he made Jackson do it. I don't even understand Ben's involvement to this post or how it perpetuates violence against women in the first place. Is it literally only because it's a woman being pushed in the locker? Maybe she just volunteered because she wanted to be involved in the photoshoot? Especially with the swirly pictures highlighting a woman literally being the one holding down her head. But no, we should definitely assume that these 17 year olds are aiming to encourage younger generations to be misogynistic and violent to women. Thank you for pointing out exactly WHY this is problematic.
They posted these photos for the public without any consideration that they might be received poorly. When criticism was brought up, the teenagers took to attacking someone’s sexuality instead of using it as a way to explain the meaning behind the photos. Also this was on New Gen’s instagram. Not on Ryder’s personal account.
Seems like the “explanation” was “we were just having fun” which is not a good one because it insinuates they don’t truly understand why it rubbed people the wrong way. If there was some kind of commentary on the side effects of bullying, etc this might not be a conversation, but unfortunately it portrayed “let’s PHYSICALLY put down girls for having a crush” which is not gonna fly in today’s climate.
My only criticism of Ben and the folks that run the New Gen camp as it seemed handled poorly (deleting the homophobic comments made by the camper but not the post initially). Its risky if you’re running a camp for 17/18 yr olds (the photographer is a minor) as 24-27 year old boys who seem to have never worked in a professional setting other than making vids and magazines in their basement.
And seemed to catch Jordan Donnelly’s, OAC’s main On guy, so even if you think it’s blown out of proportion, New Gen has got some backtracking to do
