WTF is "cold"? He's a champion and he speaks very literally. I thought it was very interesting to have him correct the error from the interviewer. He's right, the others were in no way 'running him down' - he had the lead (off the pacers) the entire race. I've noticed this theme in numerous Jakob interviews - he is very thoughtful and literal. Crappy interview questions get checked instead of letting them float in the air. I think it's fantastic
Any commenter who thinks there is a chance of "team" tactics in a championship final is off their rocker. Are you kidding me? Track and field is an individual sport with individual contracts and incentives. Until Saudi Arabia fields a team of track&field athletes and pays them large sums to sacrifice their personal performance for a team cause. Finally even with the ultimate team tactics, you are not going to stop the best runner from winning. It's not freaking cycling, its running.

He’s confident and says whatever he believes and most importantly he backs up all his words with Performances. He is the Usain Bolt of 1500, 3000, 5000m. He can talk whatever he wants.

Of course there are team tactics in championship racing. Go watch the 2017 Worlds 5k final and see how the Ethiopians successfully ganged up on Mo Farah. No guarantee it works, but there are plenty of tactics that the OAC or others could try.

Team tactics have long been a part of championship races, at least since 1968.

Uganda’s #3 (Stephen Kissa) in Tokyo 10,000m as quoted by Athletics Weekly “It was a sacrifice for the team. We had a plan for me to go ahead to make it a fast race.” Kissa went on to DNF, Cheptegei and Kiplimo the silver and bronze.
Also, on Jakob’s cockiness/confidence line riding: “Nice guys finish last.” -Green Day
Let me know when Jakob runs faster than 3:26.00 for the 1,500 WR. Jakob is currently 6th. Let me know when Jakob runs under 3:43.13 for the mile WR. Jakob is currently 6th there as well. Let me know when Jakob runs faster than 12:35.36 for the 5000 WR. Jakob is currently 17th. When the guy that holds 2 of the world records you're chasing and not remotely close to eclipsing compliments you, you effing say you're honored to be congratulated by the GOAT. Because, Jakob, you're not the GOAT in the 3 most important middle distance running events. You should be more humble.
Uh, no, he's not the Usain Bolt of those distances. If he was, he'd be the WR holder for those distances. He's not, even with the super shoes. He's arguably the best middle distance runner of his generation, but that's not enough to justify his arrogance.

Such a joke now with pacers, wave lights, and cheater shoes. I hope Jakob beats El-G mile time bevause it has stood so long, but "legal help" around the tracks is cheating. Look at Jim Ryun who ran on dirt track, with flat shoes, no pacing, no wave lights, etc.
It's a shame that Wightman's injury troubles have lingered into the outdoor season. Would've loved to see him humble Jakob again in Budapest, but I doubt he'll have enough time to get back into that kind of shape.
I still think Jakob is beatable in a championship 1500 without rabbits, but someone will have to bait him into making a tactical mistake, which will be tough. On the other hand, I don't see any way he loses the 5000 at this point.
We just saw two guys run 12:41, closing the last 2K in 4:54. Of course he has a chance to lose the 5K.
Jakob grew speaks English as his second language. Bear that in mind when judging him. Would you prefer the African muted “I hope God willing to do a good race”?
But the brothers shunning Nordås after the 1500 on Bislet was poor form.

He ran a 3:28.32 in Tokyo in the Olympic Final after running 3:36 and 3:32 just 2-4 days before.
He ran 3:27.95 just 6 days after his 7:54 Two Mile. The target was not the WR anyway.
His 12:48 5k was back in 2021. He has gotten significantly faster since then. He was only 20 at the time. As for the time itself, It was a sit and kick race. He dropped a 55-56 second 400m at 11:52 4600m (Which was targeted at 12:54 5K) So he dropped 6 seconds off the pace in just one lap. Also he beat Mo Ahmed (Silver Medalist and 12:47 5k guy), Hagos Gebrhiwet (multiple medalist and 12:45 5k guy), including the World Record holder himself (Who got gold just two months later against a stacked field). Plus, jakob is not taking the 5000 as serious as he has and still got gold last year. his 5ks are usually strength training for his 1500 and 3000. If he had raced the 5000 instead of the 1500 in Oslo. I betcha he would've decimated Kejelcha and Kiplimo's 12:41 and gone under 12:40.
Get outta here. He's the Goat in making. It's only a matter of time. He doesn't need cheap time trials like Cheptegei to be the goat. When he does tho....He'll obliterate those 3 records.
