Brazier ran a major negative split 1:47 in high school, so it was clear as day that he would smash his pr in a better field. Still, the drop from 1:45.92 indoors to 1:43.55 outdoors was shocking even for him. He beat Jim Ryun's collegiate record in that race, by a lot, and ended up turning pro, not having any support at first, and flaming out at USATFs that year. Sumner can't really drop as much time as Brazier, because he already got a lot more out of his potential in high school, running 1:46.5, over a second faster, and nearing the hs record. He's at Georgia and taking the speed route to 800 development and doing very well at 400 also. Still, I'd like to see him do 800/1500 because he might be another Ovett or Coe with his combination of speed and fast finishing 800 (endurance). Good progress for him in the 800m this year would be a high 1:44. To go even faster would probably require a pro field to really get out quick the first 400m. We may still see that after NCAAs.
