"global brand" and yet NC State beats unc-CHeat in the number of fans that actually show up to most sports events -- eg, in football, wrestling, women's basketball, ice hockey, etc.

The "brand" of unc-CHeat is not even strong enough in the state of North Carolina to bring more excitement and fans than NC State does. Doubt that "brand" is very strong outside of the state of NC, given that fact.

NC State has a pretty strong brand itself, and growing with the legend of Tuohy

Her mass market appeal is where the money is so college nil better way to go. No one outside of the running bubble will grasp the idea of a big pr while finishing in 10th place

Absolutely ridiculous NC State bias. UNC-CH is consistently one of the top brands in all of college sports and has been for years. NC State sells nothing outside of the borders of North Carolina. Even the University of Wyoming, Montana State, and Texas State-San Marcos outsell them. I'd be curious to see the list beyond #75 to see who else in NC outsells NC State. Wake Forest definitely does but I would be curious about UNC-Charlotte and Appalachian State.

Semihaze or katelyntuohyfans, you are the worst kind of fan an athlete can have. You should consult, the obsessed fan, the guy that's digging all over the place to find whatever he can about kt. Even digging in the trash, following , publishing all the pictures , all as if he was absorbing the Tuohy fame. His attitude is sick, he should consult a psychiatrist, stalkers and obsessive fans are really dangerous. If i were KT parents this kind of fan would really worry me. She can't move or do anything without this sicko publishing even pictures of her family and her friends, or whatever she ate or wore on each occasion. A sicko.

How many track meets do you attend? My bet is that you don't attend meets or concerts. Fans of the sport are fans of all athletes. I like Mu. I like Bol. I like Kenny B. I like Warholm. I like Schweizer. I like Kincaid. I like all runners. You hate every female distance runner except Tuohy. It makes people cheer against Tuohy.

I'm not talking about $$ from sales of apparel. That list is nowhere remotely reflective of the popularity of these universities. Hardly anyone nationally knows what the "State University of New Jersey" or who "Texas State" is.

I'm talking about actual fan attendance at sporting events. I live in the Raleigh area, and so I'm actually closely following how many fans each school gets at various sporting events. NC State has a way more passionate fan base than unc, and destroys unc-CHeat in attendance at football games, wrestling matches, and even club hockey (where they just had an outdoor ice hockey game at Carter-Finley stadium between the Wolfpack and Tar Heels a few weeks ago, drawing 25,000 fans, of which 90% were NC State fans).

NC State has top 25 programs nationally in many sports, and finished 17th in the nation in the 2021-2022 Learfield Director's Cup Standings, which measures success in college athletics in all sports.

Far more people have heard of UNC. NC state is a regional college

If NC State has more people at home games, it just shows that their fan base is very local. Merchandise sales amd TV revenue shows national fan base. NC State has none. This is a fact. Their finish in the standings does not show fan base either.

When I tell my friends that NC State and NAU are distance powerhouses, they are first surprised but then tell me that nobody cares.

My college is technically named after a state, but I can guarantee you that most people have heard of it. It’s D3, but is legitimately good for a non D1 school.

Yeah, maybe more people nationally "have heard of" unc than NC State. But that's not a solid fan base. As I keep pointing out, unc does not even have a hardcore enough fanbase inside the state of North Carolina to even beat NC State in attendance at most sports, with the Wolfpack destroying them in attendance. You have a bunch of people nationally who know more about unc, just because a lot of unc grads went on to work in journalism and at ESPN and have promoted the hell out of their school. But it doesn't create a national fanbase for them that truly cares about the school.

Your feelings aren't facts. You were shown that UNC is number 9. Next you will say NC State is a better school because your neighbor is smart and he graduated from there.

She’s been underestimated before and it looks like history is repeating itself. At her current rate of progress she can very possibly be at Monson’s/Schweizer’s level by 2024. The gap isn’t that big. The gap between her performances and the rest of the NCAA may by now be equal or higher…we’ll know within the next few weeks. At this point the lack of international exposure may very well be holding back her progress. Time will tell.

I have always overestimated what she could do. I expected that she would be national class by now running 14:35. Just not as good as I thought.

I suppose you also predicted the 8:35 where she destroyed previous record by over 6 seconds? If you did, my hat is off to you. She hasn’t really raced a good 5K for awhile…not since her tired 15:15, with no real NCAA competitor.

I said 8:32. I predicted 14:55 at BU so I missed that by 20 seconds. I always overestimate her.
