Jakob and sifan both run 800s... I don't see the down side of a good season of speed work. She ran 800s in hs!
I think the speed work she is doing now in combo with the 5000 m work she clearly is doing is working pretty good. If somehow they viewed her best future as a 1500 m runner I might agree with you but I don't think people see that. Probably 12 months ago people thought either she would never be that great, or would need to be a 10,000 m runner. Even the esteemed LRC gurus asked her about the 10,000 last March. Noone saw her as any type of threat going into 2022 NCAA Indoor champs. How times have changed.

I don't think so, she mentioned Millrose and ACC. BTW the other issue with anyone taking down the Indoor record is that event is In Albuquerque this year (as is NCAA Champs), no?
Even in Outdoor NCAA there would be no need to close in 4:30 in and NCAA 5000 to win.
She is referring to usatf outdoor 5000. Last year was a jogfest with blazing fast close. KT could not hang and drifted to 13th. She's now preparing to deal with that problem, 2.1 mile coast w/ 4:30 close.
