I don't judge CEOs merely on the valuation of their company. I judge them on how they treat their employees and if their employees have good work-life balance. If the soft skills of being a compassionate leader aren't there no matter how good your company does you'll never be a good CEO.
This can't be said enough. It is important for leaders to be kind and care as much about their employees happiness as the stock's valuation. That doesn't mean you allow subpar work, it means you let people work and then completely disconnect until the following day. You give them tough but achievable goals (and achievable working normal 8 or so hour days, not grinding through 12 hour days for weeks).
How you treat your employees is important and no CEO can be "good" if they don't treat them well.
