HS Tie Breaker MUST change - team loses because no 6th runner

    One girl wins by over 2 mins completely skews the average and how close the finishers PLACE actually were. It doesn't matter if you win an XC race by 5 min or 5 seconds, first place is still only 1 pt.

    Time is the most telling statistic we have, it is not misleading.

    If someone wins by two minutes, that should be recognized, not dismissed. I think time is the best tiebreaker, because every runner has an equal chance to affect it, not all the pressure goes to the fourth and fifth runner.

    I think time isn't relevant to the score. Just like a 99 yard TD pass counts 7pts and a 1 yrd TD run counts 7 pts, winning by 10 min or 10 sec doesn't and shouldn't matter.

    Also finishing times in XC are always secondary to place, it is ALL about place.

    Showing up with only 5 runners is like showing up with no back up QB. It's fine until the starter goes down.

    Which tie break is more accurate? I say the NCAA tie breaker is the best.

    I know that nobody uses time, but it’s interesting that NAU was only about five seconds faster.
