I, by the way, am not among those who believe that Magnus acted poorly; I think that he acted in a very principled and rather courageous manner, effectively outing Niemann as a cheat, putting his own reputation on the line,
At this point, you have as much evidence that Niemann is the son of Hitler as you do of him cheating in person. Which is exactly zilch. Say, isn't "Hans Niemann" a German name? There, I actually have a lot more evidence that he is the son of Hitler than you do that he cheated in a real life tournament. Everyone cheats at online chess, including me. The only ones that don't cheat online are liars.
Are you also one of the ones that thought Camille and Derek Murphy were "courageous" for falsely accusing Ashley Paulson of "cheating" with their shoddy split statistics to back up their self-righteous harrassment?
Believe it or not, most people do not and would have absolutely no desire to cheat at online chess. What’s the point? There’s nothing to gain except if you’re already a professional and playing online tournaments for prize money. If I want to watch engines play I can do that without my manually assisting them. I think the people who cheat in chess are similar to other sociopaths/psychopaths, doing something destructive for no apparent reason.
if you made it to the second paragraph of the report you’d know that chess.com estimates that fewer than 0.14% of people cheat on their site.
so the “everybody does it” justification is way off base.
I'm sure the heads of security at chess.com is just as strong as the grandpa with a hardware store metal detector frisking Niemann for the media video.

How sheltered you are. Have you never played any online video games and see how much cheating goes on? Huge market for aim bots and cheating tools.

Chess.com has a good track record of catching cheaters - people that regularly use engines. You'd be surprised, it's much easier when the only route for cheating is using engines that can be exactly replicated.

You are so unimaginative. Cheating at online chess doesn't mean using a chess engine for the whole game. Online cheating could just be using a chess engine to give you that extra edge at a critical move in the game. Clearly you have no idea of the rampant cheating scene in video games.
Who pissed on your childhood Game Genie for the SNES? Have you ever even played a video game?
Yes I have played a video game, what's the point of running a whole marathon when you can Kip or Rossi it?
Most marathon runners just want the finisher medal to post on Instagram, they could care less if they did the whole distance. The truth. Why do you think so many runners and cyclists cheat on Zwift, even obese ones?

Why would the obese cheat any less? As a skinny person, I feel like the content of my character is being judged by the lack of adiposity of my skin.

Three observations:
1. "Everyone cheats at online chess, including me. The only ones that don't cheat online are liars." Both of these comments are false, as anyone who hasn't cheated online, including me, knows with complete certainty. Your admission that you're a cheater, and that everyone else is also a cheater, simply undermines your own credibility and reveals something quite significant about your own psychological norms.
2. There's a tremendous amount of evidence that Niemann has cheated "in person," including his history of cheating online, his lies about his cheating history, and his ratings history. Moreover, this evidence would surely be determined to be legally "relevant" (in the sense that it affects the probability of one of more elements of the claim) and admissible under Rule 401 of the Federal Rules of Evidence and the overwhelming majority of state rules of evidence, as well as the evidentiary rules of many other jurisdictions. Whether the evidence revealed thus far would be considered sufficient, as a matter of law, to support a finding or conclusion of "cheating in person" is a more difficult and interesting issue.
3. You keep bringing up the case of someone named Ashley Paulson. I have no idea who that is.
Yes I have played a video game, what's the point of running a whole marathon when you can Kip or Rossi it?

So your personal ethics are "I feel good about cheating because whataboutery"?
Moderators: My post #118 was deleted. The reason provided was that the post was "discriminatory or bigoted." That's mind-bogglingly silly. Could someone (preferably not the person who deleted the post) review the post and reinstate it. It was carefully worded and informative, and I know of no legitimate (or even arguable) basis for its deletion.
A#, I’ve recently had many removed for no good reason. I was derogatory, profane, mean, off topic, spamming, or anything else. I believe what is happening is that someone is reporting the posts (bc maybe they disagree? I don’t know), and then a mod is just deleting the “problematic” posts without really looking at it. Or, maybe the med just thinks it’s easier to go along with the complainants. It can be discouraging in a case like yours… I remember that your post was well written, and I got something from it.
