My BIL has an architectural firm. They can't get public work because they don't have the anti-racism model in place. They are going to have to help less qualified people buy out one or two of the partners, and they better do it soon. The obvious weaknesses in supply and demand equations, not the actual color of anyone's skin means declining quality. A junior college drafting student, man, or woman becomes a partner in the firm for $10. The other partners all have to pay out of pocket to get that person the selling partners will have to share the hit. They can't even sell the formerly prestigious firm because the buyers don't know what to do about it either.
it's almost like they should have hired and promoted some qualified non-whites years ago....
They hired Asians, Indians, Arabs, and Persians because they applied and competed well.
why do you scream racist at everything that makes you uncomfortable?
uhhh what?
The only person I'm calling racist here is the guy who has previously said that slavey 'wasn't that bad' and that it's ok to call flag kneelers N-----s.
You don't think that qualifies as racist?
Free speeches got his degree in African American Studies and is pissed off that he can't get a job...
All our "well qualified" doctors manage to kill ~250,000 patients per year with medical errors, so I'd say that's some serious room for improvement.
Give me the B student from med school who has a clue how to listen and communicate and can support patients and still think outside the box when necessary. DNA helix was cracked by a decent student who managed to think creatively, that capability matters way more than rote.
I remember a medical school professor who near retirement offered me a stack of his unsolved cases, each one mattered deeply to him, each case inspired him to get better, and that said a lot to me about his character. I was grateful that guy kept teaching.
And I don't actually care if my surgeon is rusty on organic chemistry from way back in first year med. Most graduate level biochemistry is forgotten within a fairly short time. Forget the malate aspartate shuttle, I want to know whether that surgeon's skill level comes with some persistence and compassion, and the best outcome will be deemed worth the extra half hour of effort.
Yes, but one has to be capable of understanding organic chemistry and physiology, etc. Nobody is saying that test scores or concept mastery explain competence/performance entirely. They are concerned that minimum standards are being compromised.
Talk to higher ed instructors. Many will tell you they're terrified to give a black student a failing grade, even if that is the grade the student earned. Somehow, our higher ed institutions and credentialing bodies are supposed to make up for disparities that occur in early life and have knockoff effects for decades.
I’m really trying to be super anonymous since I’m bashing an actual human being. The worst resident by a giant landslide I ever taught was white: got a legacy admission to an Ivy, barely graduated from a DO school after failing USMLE and COMLEX exams, and then Daddy got them a spot in a residency program in a medium-competitive specialty. The individual squeaked through for a year before getting kicked out- it took a year to get an air tight enough case that Daddy’s attorneys couldn’t fight.
So how’s that affirmative action dumbing medicine down?
Oh yeah- and my colleague who’s the absolute most knowledgeable about [a specific very useful part of my specialty] is an African American woman.
Diversity serves us all.
Don't you see that attributing the merit and competence of your African American colleage to diversity is actually an insult to her achievements?
Furthermore, as many have argued here, affirmative action policies have an unfortunate effect; they make people suspicious of high-achieving black people. I'm not sure where I stand on affirmative action, but anybody who is honest with herself knows that basing admissions or hiring on race will logically lead to doubts about the merit of the recipients.
The problem with the legacy admission guy is that he wasn't qualified for the position, not that he was white or wealthy.
Why do you think the entire continent of Africa is so far behind the rest of the world?
“It’s not racist if the racist thing I’m saying is true”
or something like that
See you're starting to understand, Hunter. Stating facts is not racist. Racism is about attitudes one has towards another racial group. I guess you're going to have to call nature itself racist if you're going to have your feelings hurt by facts. Have fun screaming at the sky.

Believing that one race of people is more intelligent than another race of people is racist. Believing such things and not even realizing that you’re racist is ignorance.

"Racism: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized."
No it doesn't. I can believe that certain groups have different average degrees of intelligence without being hateful or discriminatory towards people based on their race. If that belief is based on the facts, then it's not me making that belief up in my head, it's a reality. It's also a reality that some racial groups do better in certain sports - am I supposed to deny that to avoid being a "racist?" That's insane. Again, continue having your feelings hurt by reality.

Merriam-Webster
racism
1. a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
Now go ahead and try to explain how the belief that one race is more intelligent than another does not fall under “inherent superiority of a particular race.”
Believing that one race of people is more intelligent than another race of people is racist. Believing such things and not even realizing that you’re racist is ignorance.

The Google definition (Oxford?). Right below that, on the same page.
”the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another”
You forgot the part of the definition that doesn’t agree with you.

Oh wow, the woke ideology has corrupted the dictionary. I guess believing in genetics makes one a racist, according to Merriam-Webster. I would love to hear Merriam-Webster's explanation for the absolute dominance of Blacks in sprinting events in a way that doesn't make them racist. How about you, Hunter, any explanation that wouldn't involve "distinct characteristics, abilities or qualities?"

Hey Hunter, I'm a black supremacist for believing that Africans are better on average than every single other racial group at running. Sue me for being a racist.

This is not the norm in college. Certainly not in my experience. You get what you earned and if adjustments were made, the curve applied to the entire class.

That’s obviously racist too, but it doesn’t hurt people’s feelings and attempt to justify their poverty so no one cares. The human brain naturally categorizes. We all have biases. The smartest racist I’ve debated knew he was racist. None of you guys have the same level of self awareness or honesty.

Lol...The left constantly denies reality because they find it unaceptable...
