We are always trying to improve.
Some people say we delete too much . Some people too little.
I need specific examples.
Recently Molly Seidel posted about 69 on instagram. She's a public figure posting on instagram. Fair game for discussion. The discussion started going a bit sideways and was becoming a pain to moderate so a mod deleted it. I restored the thread and locked it.
There was a huge thread about Seth Demoor. It seemed to devolve into more personal attacks about the guy. Some posts about his family. We received a lot of complaints. We locked the thread.
Those are the 2 threads I think I've received emails on recently.
Any other threads you have complaints about?
Yes. Why was the thread asking why don’t Kenyans do better in the javelin deleted? You allow a million threads asking why don’t American distance runners do better, so why can’t we talk about Kenyan javelin throwers? As others here have pointed out, the lack of transparency in rules and the inconsistency in moderation is what’s most upsetting.
Please: just post a clear list of rules, and consistently hold everyone to the same standards.
