Also, Trying to predict what NP’s team will look like in 2023 isn’t useful. Some elite transfers may come in.
In fact, there might be one coming in this fall. I saw in the L/L videos that there was a Brandon training with them. He’s either a transfer or someone from another school who chose to train with them
That would be Brayden Seymour from Hagerty H.S. in Florida, with bests of 4:11.07 mile & 8:59.72 3200. There's no indication that he's transferred to NP. My guess is that his family planned a vacation & since he would be in the area he asked if he could train with NP at Big Bear.
Looks like he did transfer to NP. They actually do have another transfer named Brandon coming in. His last name is Guevara. He’s a junior. he won’t make an impact this year but next year he will.
Luke Snyder ran sub 16 last week. And I don't think Landon Kimmel has raced yet, but he is going to be one of the fastest freshman in Ohio. A half dozen more freshman ran sub 17 at various meets this weekend, too.
I’m thinking Jonah Sloan (10:17) and Nathaniel Porter (9:52 in the 3200) (both incoming juniors) will also score.
Besides L&L/Sahlman/Cantu/Doshi/Martinez, Porter was the only person returning who ran a sub-10 in the 3200 and sub-4:30 in the 1600. So he might actually be the one taking the 7th varsity spot this year.
It’s not an uncommon thing at Newbury Park to not know who their #7 is when the season starts. They have meets where people outside their top 6 face off against each other to see who gets the seventh spot. And I expect this will happen again this year.
Porter could end up being their 7th, but Jonah Sloan running 10:17 as a 10th grader doesn’t bode well for his chances of ever sniffing the varsity.
I think this demonstrates how the thin the pipeline at Np is compared with year’s past when a 10:17 10th grader is considered a potential scorer compared with the 8:43 Lex ran as a 10th grader and he was the 3rd or 4th scorer as an 11th grader.
Considering Guevara just transfered in, it makes it even harder for a 4:42/10:17 guy to ever make it. Although it is not unlikely, but He would need to make some great strides.
Top 1600 nonseniors:
4:19 Doshi
4:26 Porter
4:35 shetty
4:35 guevara transfer
4:39 watson
4:39 / 10:34 Adrian Cantu if he goes there
4:41 Dickran
———— top 7 above——-
4:42/10:17 J sloan
4:48/10:11 n sloan
Still looks deep to me. of course there might be another transfer joining too
I wonder if there will be any other stud freshmen joining NP in 2023 besides Cantu
Heard again this week wroblewski is running strong in workouts with 2,3,4. Jesuit faces off against Franklin (ranked preseason number 2 in 6A) on Sept 10th at the Ash Creek meet at Western Oregon. Looks like Wroblewski ran pretty fast times there last year on the 3k course when he ran for Bowerman late in the fall. Should be a good one to see on the 10th.

If Wroblewski is able to keep up with their 2-4 during races he will likely be #1 freshman in the nation then.

Jaden Merrick was still the fastest 8th grader last year with his 15:34 but Jesuit’s #4 ran a 15:29 last year. Jesuit’s #3 ran a 15:11
