It's not strange. When you declare and not qualified when you declare, you're not accepted to the field because the meet has no idea how many will declare. So you're not accepted until the field sorts itself out. This is exactly how it happens all the time.
well after the entries were closed they had to know there were not enough with the standard to complete the field.....but I am easily confused lol
this makes more sense. In the 5000 they have now accepted 20, with 3 with standard still waiting to declare. They accepted St Pierre even with NT though.

There are a half dozen 1500/steeple women that will scratch if they make the finals but want a back up plan. They should accept people into the field right up until race time.

I believe the reason why EPSP was accepted is because that she medaled at world indoors, thus giving her an automatically qualification under usatf rule 8.
Of course, if she wants to make the 5k team, she needs to be in top 3 plus hitting the WC standard in the finals. My guess is that this is just a hail mary attempt if she fails to make the 1500 team.
