My comment that "Jan 6 is still happening" is referring to the continuation of anti-democratic means to achieve anti-democratic objectives - which is what Jan 6 was all about. The accompanying violence will likely come again.
Your other comment, about Justice Kavanaugh - which isn't really related to Jan 6 - is yet another demonstration of the violence that is such a prevalent and long-standing theme in American culture.
What anti-democratic means are still happening? The only anti-Democratic tactics I’m seeing is from the pro-abortion crowd who have gone as far as attempted murder of a Supreme Court justice, spurred by violent rhetoric of democratic politicians. A staffer leaking an upcoming Supreme Court decision and the subsequent encouraging of protests and “taking up arms” by democratic leaders is a direct threat to our democratic process as well.
All of this is an attempt to turn the tides before midterms. Problem is no one really cares about January 6th as long as they’re paying $5 per gallon of gas, $5 for a gallon of milk, $4 for a dozen eggs and can’t find an affordable home to rent, much less buy. With an inevitable red wave on the horizon, what do the Dems do? They resort to political theatrics. Get people to leak Supreme Court documents, air a January 6th hearing on all major networks, go on tirades about the second amendment.
The only problem is Democratic strategists can’t remember one simple quote: “It’s the economy, stupid.” No one cares about the peripheral stuff when their bank account is hurting. Say what you want, but dems are in control of the White House, senate, and congress. Your in power, you get the blame.
US doesn’t even rank in the top 10 for violent crime.
So out of almost 200 countries in the world the US doesn't rank in the top 10 for violent crime. Very impressive.
You were not there obviously - but did you see this?
These are democrats rioting in front of the white house. Where 5 secret service agents were injured. What? You didn't see the congressional hearings on this?
Donald Trump rushed to ‘terror attack’ bunker as violent George Floyd riots rage near White House
Did the George Floyd rioters attack our capital with the purpose of stopping a legal election so that, destroying our democracy and allowing a coup for Trump to remain in power?
They burnt down a number of buildings, caused far more damage and left far more death and destruction in their wake.
Its not a question of which was more violent, it was an issue about destroying the democratic process. The Trump attack was a threat to our system of government, the Floyd rioters were not.
The left staged numerous violent riots and rallies to protest Trump's election in 2016, and they kept it up through his entire administration:
The following is a timeline of the protests against Donald Trump, the former president of the United States of America, businessman, and television personality. Presidential campaign 2015 Protests against Trump began followin...
147 Republicans in the House voted to overturn the election results. The 2022 House will be filled with even more Trump loyalists. The 2024 election will be very close again. Ten states have shifted control over elections to partisan (i.e. right wing) election boards. There is a very real chance that the 2024 election will be very close and will be thrown to Trump by Congress or the manipulation of results by Republican election boards.
The Dems had a chance to take action to secure federal elections and keep Republicans from screwing around with things like voter access. The John Lewis Voting Rights Act passed the House and died in the Senate because Manchin and Sinema would not vote to suspend the filibuster.
If these hearings are being put on to get a groundswell of support for the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to try to flip Manchin and Sinema, then it is worth. But it is not. It is just another Dem obsession with Trump that the corporate centrist DNC dems think is gold for fundraising and keeping their Trump hating base motivated.
The the true purpose is to understand how fragile our democracy is and how close we came to having it dismantled.
Now we have to find out if our population is willing and able to open their eyes. The movie don't look up was a perfect metaphor for what is happening. The republican crowd was chanting don't look up because the was a meteorite in the sky crashing toward earth and the political leaders lead the crowd to be in denial. If they looked up they would see the meteorite but the crowd was convinced that liberals were trying to get them to look up so they chanted not to look up so none of them would see the truth.
It has a stupid premise but it had much truth to it.
What are you on about? Dems are in control RIGHT NOW and Biden has led the country into a sh!tstorm, and you're still talking about Republicans. I guess Trump Derangement Syndrome never really goes away.

Left and Right have gotten more and more crazy and offenses have not been punished until this January 6 business. The problem I see is the crazies on the right saw what those on the left did in the summer of 202 and must have thought anything goes. Maybe if we start enforcing all laws we can straighten this out (if we get the leaders on both sides to tone down the rhetoric as well).
I don't think there's overt support for those groups but the police definitely lean right and see Black Lives Matter as more of a threat than the Far-Right.
I suppose police have to make a judgment call as to how big a threat is presented. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) riots and looting sprees that you believe are relevant to that analysis did cause $2 billion in damages to third party businesses and private residences (as well as public buildings) over a two week period in summer 2020. So it appears Capitol police could be forgiven in January 2021 for thinking Proud Boys and Oathkeepers were nowhere near the magnitude or threat level that a pending BLM riot would pose. Capitol police threat assessment turned out to be somewhat accurate in a sense: large building were not burned down, very little destruction of personal (or public) property, no widespread theft and looting, no Prouds/Oaths appeared to be armed, Capitol police actually shot and killed one protestor and there were no additional riots and looting sprees in retribution.
Obviously mistakes were made, but the Capitol police assessed threat level on January 6 was more accurate than inaccurate with respect to the events and comparisons you believe are relevant. In fact, it appears to be more a case that the nationwide BLM riots and looting were continuously underestimated for some reason, rather than the Capitol riot was.
If you told the police on January 5 there was going to be an invasion of the U.S. Capitol building they would have considered that the highest possible threat there could be. The police catastrophically underestimated the threat level. The fact they were even in the building is the biggest security breach ever. You can't defend it by saying they didn't set the seat of government on fire and even though they had the opportunity they decided not to. No other group would have been given half of chance of doing what they did and make it out alive.

The crime of sedition and trying to dismantle our democracy doesn't become meaningless just because it happened 1 1/2 years ago.

False equivalency. The president and other elected leaders tried to dismantle our democracy so that Trump could stay in power. That did not happen ever before.
Lets not ignore that huge elephant in the room even if you want to pretend its not there.

ok, then how about the Ds running the sham Trump collusion investigation for 3 years? It seems to me that is un democratic to try to take down a sitting President. The so called evidence was created by Ds. btw a crime is a crime. Enforce the laws.

Don’t forget the Kavanaugh witch hunt. Very anti-democracy as well.

Investigation is not anti-democratic. Investigation is not a crime. Both sides run investigations. What is anti-democratic, is trying to overturn a fair election. That is a crime.

Was it undemocratic for the Rs to try and take down Clinton? What about Nixon? Impeachment is built into our process. The Ds made their case for removing Trump from office before Congress and they lost. Just as Rs lost in 1998 with the Clinton investigation.
Trump tried to use the power of his office to subvert the process in order to remain in power illegitimately. That is entirely different.

Did Clinton commit a crime? I believe he did. But you are right, not worthy of impeachment. One side does something, the other sees that and they do more. It has to stop.

If senate Rs had joined Ds in voting to convict, then Pence would have become president. That can happen to any president. Also, investigation into Trump was legit. Mueller report detailed instances of obstruction of justice and more. Senate Rs mostly voted to keep their criminal President. Shame.

Pretending mass mail in voting with filthy voter rolls is a "fair election" isn't democratic. Mail in voting isn't in most of the world because everyone knows it's too easy to cheat.
The commissions biggest reveals: 1) Administration officials were warning Trump about his claims about election fraud, arguing that he didn't have evidence. 2) We have no evidence that Trump directly abdicated his duties as Commander-in-Chief and that Pence had to step into the breach and usurp Trump. It remains a suggestion. 3) But What was Trump doing from 2-6 pm that day? There is evidence that he stood aside while the mob sought to do violence to the First Article to the Constitution in the name of the Second. Trump made no effort to deploy the National Guard that day nor did he notify the Justice Department. (Note the CoC directs the DC National Guard). As has been suggested by many, Trump has a missing four hours problem to explain.
It is clear that I am not a fan of Trump, but I wonder if the Left's blindness to Antifa and Floyd violence somehow justified all this behavior in Trump's mind.
Mail-in voting works great, no problems. In Colorado for many cycles.
Trying to overturn a fair election? You're a moron. Biden did not flip 4 key states in the middle of the night, didn't happen. Democrats vote early too, remember?
Reverse it, and have Trump behind and flip 4 swing states in the same exact way...you'd be calling Fraud all day long.
Suck it you loser, the next election is coming quicker than you want it to and your Woke crap will be reversed along with all of the other Left Wing BS. Trust me, I'm smiling as I post this because 2022 and 2024 won't be Democrat Cheating time;)

No, but you're a fan of Lyin Biden and the Clinton Crime Family, so you've got some great company pal;).
Antifa is the LEFT and they did hoards of damage and destruction for months but that was okay and Jan. 6th is the worst of the worst...peabrain. If the Far Right did the same thing, it'd be brought up by the same douche bag liberals on here day after day...but let's forget about that....Look Squirrel!!!!!!
