Two scenarios here with some creative liberty on the second:

1) you are one of these 2 “Gtown greats” and are insanely bitter and jumped on your phone immediately which is embarrassing. sorry you didn’t make it to nattys and all those big boys and scary foreigners took your place. Maybe daddy can buy you a plane ticket and you can watch live!

2) you’re a teammate who’s insufferable and likely a complete @sshat who thinks the world is against them because a diversity candidate got hired over them for a wealth management role at the goldman Salt Lake City office

Fegan's Ryan and steelman probably had no interest in trying to qualify in the 10K and we're only using it as a tune-up for the 5K...

I mean I don't think it's a coincidence that all three of them stepped off the track or ran slow and they're all better 5K runners so at least to me it seemed that they were just getting some track time...

I think Steelman is going to struggle to make the 5k final. She’s on the bubble for sure.

with 6 NC State runners in the second heat the odds go down...Probably Tuohy, Bush, Shaw or Steelman make it from that heat...and they better hope that is the faster heat (at least that is my guess). Valby, Kimeli, Seymour also in 2nd heat. Clairemonte may have a good shot from 1st heat depending which Fegans and Ryan show up.

At least they will know what number to shoot for going 2nd. I predict Tuohy does the pacing here to make sure 7 spots count. Starliper has a chance to make her season here, she looked good at acc, maybe she goes 15:50 to sneak thru.

All the NC state ladies are packed in a loaded heat 1 of 1500m. Again here they will need a fast race offering 7 slot.

I don't know if everyone posting here knows this, so just in case you didn't see: there was a big pile-up fall near the finish line about 1/3 into the race. I was along the backstretch, so I couldn't see well who all was involved. I know it's what took Mancini out; hopefully she's not injured. Anyway, that fall could be the reason Steelman lost her shoe and/or why some strong runners like Fegans ended up dropping out.

Same thing happened in a mens 10K too....just another reason for the top runners not to settle in to a spot on the rail and end up getting surrounded. Front, back, or outside. Lauren Gregory and Grace Forbes settled on the front, and though the race was slow they were never in trouble. I like the idea of NC State doing the pack thing at the front with Tuohy controlling pace.

No women's 1500 video huh? It'll be interesting to see how some of those 10K runners bounce back for the 5K

I'm surprised that there aren't more pile-ups in these 10K fields. The fields for these races is just too big. I am not sure what the solution is. Two heats doesn't seem feasible and makes for a really long night. I would be in favor of there being less qualifiers for this race if it is going to remain as one heat. Perhaps limit it to somewhere between 24-30.

I've brought this up before and the response has been something like "what about cross country races? Those field are a lot bigger." XC and track are not the same sport. Jostling for position and getting into oxygen debt/running at threshold is a part of what XC is all about. It should not be what a 10K on the track is about.

Looks like rain for the guys in the East today.

LSU with a DQ in the 4x100 wow these regional meets are scarier than the championship itself. Dennis shaver has had a tough time with their mens programs in the relays these past two years. Last year it was the 4x400 now its the 4x100

Florida was also out of the last exchange zone and should be DQ'd in the 4x100 as well.

Alabama was winning their heat and never made the final pass

I think the east regional officials just screwed up the first heat of the 3000 steeple for the men. They jumped over a barrier after like 50 meters, and then did the water jump on the first lap.

Ok...maybe it is OK...it is an outside jump so you run fewer laps. Weird event in that the setup of the stadium you run in can make it a different race.
