Someone commented that so many foreign athletes were taking advantage of So. Cal weather to train year-round that they were "colonizing" the area. The other announcer then noted that if there was an "Olympic sport of colonization," Great Britain would be the undisputed champion. (According to recent story, there are only 22 countries in the world that G.B. hasn't invaded at one time or another.)
This was just some humorous banter.

-Allie Wilson is legit in form. US 800m women even deeper. Nia Akins will be a contender as well.
-Sinclaire Johnson is back, looking much better than she ever did with BTC/Jerry.
-Festus Lagat has a rough draw having to try to make loaded Team Kenya. He looked legit and can maybe go 1:43-44 right now with that strength

They said he is now second to only Rupp in high school. He beat Gerry Lindgren's time 0f 13:44 from 1964 to move in to second!

Wow, #2 all time HS 5000 for Lex! Nipping Lindgren and Ritz, even though Gerry's 13:44 is legendary in those 1964 conditions.
Not sure what the junior class record was, but he just broke that as well. Pretty badass when your #3 guy runs 13:43.9 as a junior.
I always root for Natosha Rogers.
I know we've been talking about Newbury Park all year but I just cannot fathom having a 13:43 guy as your #3 man on a high school cross country team. It's absolutely incredible. What a run tonight from Lex Young!
