Katelyn Tuohy 5000m Prediction - What will her 5000 pb at the end of the season?

oh im lauding the progress!!' katelyn tuohy has been progressing very very well in college!!

but people just really has to bring up her hs prs and say she isnt .. they dont seem to know that tuohy went back to square one in 2020

knee surgery, physical therapy, no running, no training for months, super low mileage, she went so out of shape, when she was allowed to train, she said it was so hard and credits it to her teammates on how she got through that tough year

katelyn actually PRed in the the 1500m, and won bronze in 5000m at ACCs .. a 4:12 is a 4:30 mile pace, which means tuohy at her not so fit self was already running the same times as her HS peak self

tuohy is in better shape now after a full build up but she is still not as fit as her teammate chmiel

her coach have talked about the time frame of developing runners, henes said they want their runners to run their best times as a senior, they have helped tuohy progress not from 2018 tuohy but from 2020 tuohy

I don’t understand why people are referring to the NCAA 5000m as being fartlek. There was a crazy slow 200m split right before the 3000, but the rest was fairly evenly paced.

Again, a runner does not develop a good kick. It’s not a constant unrelated to the pace and were Touhy to attempt 15:00 pace her last lap could possibly be her slowest of the race.

There were a fair amount of speed changes done - but fartlek seems like over kill to describe it. But from 2000 to 3000 the laps were 36, 36, 37, 42, 39 (when Hays took lead). A lot of 38s which is only 15:50 pace. In fairness to posters, I think Tuohy called it fartlek herself.

Calling Tuohy's improved kick "insane" is getting tiresome. Let the athlete demonstrate the timing and foot speed to close for the win before going hog wild about her finish.

also, its insane for the fact that its the one main thing that people has been roasting on, her finishing speed and here she is now constantly running 32-31s

she ran the fastest last lap in the 3000m after running the 5000m the night before and she literaly outkicked everyone in the last 600 in that race

if youre tired of hearing or seeing it then dont go into these threads, no ones forcing you, you came here on your own

Would you prefer a 5 minute mile w/ close in 27, or a 4:30 mile w/close in 35?

You need to relax regarding Tuohy. Until she runs faster than a high schooler, you sound silly to continue with the over the top comments. She is a great college runner. Okay. Yipee. She has shown nearly no improvement. And improving a kick? Again. who cares? The 1st to the finish line is the winner, not who runs the last 200 the fastest.

theres a lot who care about tuohy no matter what time she runs, obviously we dont care about natalie cook no matter what time she runs (let that sink in) it is what it is

also, by the looks of how much threads and responses, and video views on youtube... it seems like more people was excited to watch tuohy drop her finishing kick speed and finish second than to watch cook's 5k record and finishing 3rd

hmmm i wonder who broke the u20 3000m record in december and shattering a pr, i wonder who pr in the 1500m just months after getting back to running after a knee surgery, i wonder who won the acc bronze in the 5000m as a freshman, and gold medal as a sophomore, i wonder which runner cut her finishing speed from 36s to 31s in just 3 months, i wonder which runner scored the most points in the ncaa indoor championships with her 16 points

Yes that would be great. Between these 2 and a handful of others, all of the top young female runners have been inured at some point over the past 2 years.

you keep forcing your natalie cook is better narrative on every tuohy thread just because she got a all-out effort time thats 5 seconds faster than tuohy's tactical race time

you call tuohy slow yet natalie cannot even beat her at any other distance, and oh heck tuohy can run faster than 15:25 5000m, the ncaa indoor 5000m 3000m races tells us just what she's capable of now

im more amazed by tuohy running 60 mpw and breaking records from mile to 5000m at such a young age and not so to a college freshman in high school

Not calling anyone in particular out but...

Can we all just say Tuohy had an amazing high school career and has been very resilient? She had a solid freshman year and a great sophomore xc season (despite her fall at NCAAs) and overcame many obstacles to have two incredible performances at NCAA indoors. She seems to be happier and healthier than ever (especially mentally) and shows lots of promise.

Cook is also putting together an amazing senior year. Winning 2 xc national championships in consecutive weeks, negative splitting a 9:44, anchoring a national record relay team, and running 15:25 to beat collegiate athletes is very impressive.

We don't have to argue which one is better, and we especially don't have to put either down. I'm sure neither would want that. Tuohy probably hates it when her fans keep comparing her and Cook because she struggled a lot with pressure and wouldn't want Cook to feel the same. I'd imagine Cook looks up to Tuohy and doesn't want people to disregard her accomplishments either.

Also, this thread is literally only about Tuohy. Cook is not mentioned in the title.

exactly.... this is a katelyn tuohy thread, we dont want any natalie cook fans here.... if you look back at the first few pages and you see some natalie cook fans being so cocky

katelyn tuohy does not need natalie cook, but natalie cook seems to need tuohy to get more clicks based on how theres even a natalie cook vs katelyn tuohy thread that is made by a natalie fan

cook did not break any of tuohy's record, she broke jenna hutchins record yet natalie cook fans seems to latch on tuohy more than anyone else

natalie cook has an impressive senior season yet it does not even take up half of tuohy's achievements if were being serious
