If you have questions, who not go to the CDC or the NIH or your doctor or even the FDA for answers?
Valid approved treatments (treatment used is based on needs of patient) - there may be some others, but this is what I found with a quick scan of the above link and then links from it:
* Veklury (remdesivir)
* anti-SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) tixagevimab plus cilgavimab (Evusheld)
* ritonavir-boosted nirmatrelvir (Paxlovid) and molnupiravir
* Sotrovimab
Effective Preventatives are:
Vaccines (by far the most effective for people who are out and about in the world)
Wearing a mask, preferably an N95 or KN95
Social Distancing
This isn't difficult. There is no magic treatment or drug that does the job better (or at all) than vaccines. It's bizarre that people keep looking for one. Good thing people didn't do this en masse with Smallpox.
Bro, comparing smallpox and Covid shows just how in over your head you are. Smallpox didn’t have animal reservoirs and was a much slower mutater than Covid, so a pervasive vaccine strategy made sense to eradicate it. Did your Stanford-immunology trained wife give you that example? Also, there wouldn’t be so much reticence toward the Covid vaccines if they were traditional, attenuated viral vaccines.
Nobody cares about credentials. Some of the “smartest” people actually aren’t that smart, and certainly that is true of doctors. The CDC keeps changing its guidance, which is politically motivated. Does that reinforce their credibility for you, because it surely doesn’t for me? The FDA is inextricably intertwined with many board members for these vaccine manufacturers. It is very incestuous and should give you pause. Two of their top officials quit because they couldn’t get behind the boosters. Hmmm…
https://www.wsj.com/articles/youtube-cancels-the-u-s-senate-11612288061I believe Dr. Kory treated members of Congress. Why would they allow this if they were suspicious of him and his protocol? They have access to inside information well before the public (and they often trade on it). My own doctor, who really is brilliant and obtained a PhD in physics from Duke before he attended medical school, is the first one who brought IVM to my attention. EVERY single person I know who has taken it, some extremely high risk, has merely had a mild cold all through the Delta wave.
I have now been through Delta (bad for three days) and Omicron (one off day, pretty dang mild). I treated myself borrowing from protocols designed by MDs who dared to ask the question EARLY of what can we be doing to treat sick patients besides Remdesivir from day eight on (hospital protocol but totally useless once the viral replication phase is complete and very hepatotoxic) and oxygen? Doctors who were brave enough to practice the art of medicine and risk their licenses in the process. Brave men and women who saved lives.
You are CORRECT now about treatments including Mabs and protease inhibitors. But those weren’t available until recently. I am fully on board with the low-hanging fruit getting the vaccine (elderly, obese with comorbidities, etc) but not the young and not the healthy. A nuanced approach was what was needed where some of us could self treat and cultivate our own immunity such that it could see all of the epitopes of the virus, not just the S antigen.
I have training in immunology. Ask your expert wife how my bout with Delta and then Omicron (which was nothing) isn’t at least as effective as the two vaccine plus booster protocol. Again, if this really were polio with a high kill rate or that frequently maimed children, the public response would be much different. But it just isn’t even close. You have no idea what the long term side consequences of the vaccine are, even with billions of data points over a short period of time. Ten years of testing in vitro, in ferrets, and in small groups of humans not including children is hardly ten years of safety data.
Lastly, everyone I know, who is triple vaxxed seems to be getting the sickest right now with this Omicron wave, including several colleagues and my own mother. All of my unvaxxed friends haven’t suffered w Omicron at all, and they’ve never stopped living their lives. It’s fascinating.
