Shouldn't there be some kind of helmet to deal with those shock waves? Like one with springs inside so the outside gets shook and the inside stays still.
Have U.S. Army & U.S. Navy (for Marines and Sailors with Marines) discussed superior helmets? Helmets today are superior to helmets 80 or so years ago. Helmets today most likely will stop some bullets fired from some pistols. Helmets are basically for fragmentation protection from grenades, mortars and artillery if one is outside of immediate blast zone and protection from debris associated with blast. Helmets diminish ability to hear. Special forces guys rarely wear helmets because the risk of being killed by fragmentation is balanced by need to hear.
