As an Australian I have to say Australian response other than preventing some age care deaths who are already dead anyways is absolutely apalling
We have only 2 % fully vaccinated and vaccine acceptance is low
50% vacination rate won't be achieved for likely another year if ever as lockdown happen when 2-3 cases happen so nobody sees any reason to get vaccinated
Federal government bet everything on Astrazaneca - low effeciency blood clotting vaccine
and now when they pivoted to pfizer they have problem to get supply on short notice
You are ill informed.
Hind sight is a wonderful thing for the ignorant.
We 'bet on ' Astra Zeneca because we have the ability at CSL to manufacture 1M doses a week, which is happenning since March.
Our own Uni of Queensland/CSL was aborted due to giving false HIV positives, which would have played havoc with the real HIV testing. This vaccine is currently being re-engineered, biut not close to production yet.
Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines etc are manufactured overseas...there are 200 contries wanting to use that, multiplied by 2 for double dose.
What selfish moran would insist that we should have 52M doses , whilst other countries in Africa, Pacific, Asia etc must wait?
This, while our infection rate is so low that we are now only in the second lock down since the start.
...and if the Premier had actually locked down the specific localities 10 days ago when it started, as most people were screaming at her to do, then we wouldn't be locking down the whole city.
But morans like you would have been complaining that you cannot have a coffee at your cafe
If you are over 60, go and get your AZ vaccinne, there are 13M doses and counting. If you are under 60, go see your GP to assess the risk and take the AZ, otherwise book in for the Pfizer.
I have had both (Pfizer) shots, whats keeping you? And I could get that at over 60..
The point is that people are happy to weigh the risk of infection, and lock down and wait for the Pfizer vaccine, or like some friends just say, "I'll wait a little bit, its not urgent"
"its not urgent" because we have done a fantastic job maging this and at the same time growing our economy, having full stadiums and big runs.
If our Premier has slipped up once, it is actually now, where the consensus is thgat she waited too long to lock the localities, now too long also to lock the city, and the lock downs dont actually go far enough.
