So experience does matter in a marathon...
Ouch! Cockram 32 seconds over the standard in 2nd.
Is Steph Davies related to Ray Davies from the Kinks?
Disappointing women's race in the end. If Purdue and Piasecki can prove fitness they should be selected.
Lily Partridge seems to be a HM specialist. Too many DNFs on her marathon record

I think they can select Purdue and Piasecki but they like to do everything they can not to select marathon runners so I bet they'll only pick Purdue (fitness proven of course)

Does Ben Connor's London 2:11.20 time count?
That was October 4th and the window was closed until December 1st?
Would mean Johnny Mellor would get the 3rd spot?
says it counts.
Though that page also says "Performances achieved between 6 April 2020 and 30 November 2020 are not considered in the World Rankings and in the Qualification system." Which contradicts what the table actually says.
Are marathons subject to a different time constraint in respect of that particular rule?
London got special consideration
Link to results anyone?
And to wrap that up - the marathon and race walks quali period was amended by WA to allow the London elite race and others in that period to count too.

British selectors can be weird but they'd be crazy to leave a 2:25 runner at home if they don't have to
Actually, that could be wrong. Lol. I was sure it had a larger window for qualification than the track events!
Splits for Thompson
15:25
15:26
15:12
15:38
15:30
15:48
15:30
15:35
6:44

Fully agree. But when it comes to distance runners (particularly those who don't have a great shot at a medal) they seem to look for any reason they can not to select people.
Maybe things have changed a bit now though and it's different people making the choices. Hope so.
great course selection. just been outside on an exposed links course 60m upwind of Kew. Must be steady 4-5 gusting 6-7.
