Accomplishments like that are awe inspiring and deserving of respect until they are thrown at your face, then they lose their power and instead they look like a crutch that he needs to win an argument or gain respect.

Generally, I would agree. I think the alumni factor could be tough to ignore.

Yeah this is all gone now. I don't think Centro needed to respond like that at all. Hocker quoted Centro in the post itself. & I bet the kid who jokingly tagged Centro really did look up to him. That shouldn't be the back and forth of a UO Olympic Champ & a UO walk on.

To be fair Cooper did go on that podcast and say some stuff about Centro being in the B heat of that 5k. But, to be fair, Centro raced in the b heat of the 5k with a 13-flat pb then threw up an IG post afterwards about the W.

Not really sure why this all got out of hand. Think Centro doesn't need to respond like he is and that that would help. He's the Olympic Champ but is acting a bit insecure. Let the college kids talk/have fun. You don't even need to get yourself involved in it. Feel like it's all hurting the UO brand a little too. You want to go to UO to run like the greats not to beef with them on social media.

The fun thing is that these guys will all be racing each other for the next few years at a time when the young guys are coming up and Centro will be approaching the end of his career. I'm here for it.

I really don’t see Centro making the Olympic team this year. That might be a tough pill to swallow for him. Obviously he has a very accomplished career. A gold medal by itself is more than pretty much any American middle distance runner has done, but I think the young guns are our future and present.

Once this YouTube generation starts making teams it’ll be a sad day for the sport.

centro was stuck up back in HS just like his dad was at power memorial. lauren was the only one that acted like a real person. centro walked 2 3/4 laps in the olympics and then sprinted. after that he's done nothing and most likely he is done.

its not a good look for centro imo. trash talking is good for the sport, but you can tell centro takes it way too personally and isnt having fun with it like most people are (also he is punching way down on this one). he clearly has insecurities that run deep and we will see in the coming months if those stem from the fact that he is not fit and worried about his performance in tokyo.

Kinda seems to be petty behavior by Centro to me.

Not petty to me. They are constantly tagging him and making comments like this. He is allowed to respond however he wants. If he never ran another step you could argue he is the most accomplished to ever come from UO. Imagine if this was the other way around and He would tag them constantly say your move to their 3:59-4:0x milers
