Huntington Uni drama

I think it's important to keep in mind that your experience and opinions might be different than what happened with some other athletes (or seemingly recruits in this case). All it takes is one breach of trust or crossing of the line for things to take a wrong turn. In fact, building that trust and then going over the line is a common manipulation tactic. Of course, we all have to see how this situation develops, but it seems pretty serious at the moment.

Even though you know the female that told you she didn't do anything indecent doesn't mean that's the truth. It looks really bad that a coach of the school was giving a so called treatment to a student female athlete after hours in a classroom in the dark. It looks even worse that a higher up school official was called and nothing was done about it at that time. This lack of action has led to more victims. I bet there are victims at the school also. Consensual victims maybe but victims are victims. Wonder if the school is just sweeping this away? From a previous post on the forum it looks like Ron Coffey knew and his picture is still on the website. I wonder how many male coaches on these forums would say they take care of their female student athletes by doing anything alone after hours? Or that the school would even say it is right for them to do so?

A bit of wisdom: regardless of the story, until you know the full details it is probably a good idea to hold of making assumptions about something you know very little about. There is a process that will play out, let it.

The probable cause affidavit was just posted on IndianaRunner. I can't seem to figure out how to post the link to the images that were there though. Someone more tech savvy than me may need to get involved.

Regardless, he is clearly a creep. He basically confesses to numerous things in the affidavit. Not sure if this counts as a legal confession though? Any lawyers in the house?

As for any confession, he clearly was read his Miranda rights so anything he said would be allowed to be used against him.

This just gets more troubling with the additional details that get leaked out of the bag. Typically in these situations it is just the tip of iceberg.

Wow that is really bad. Seems unlikely that was his first time doing something like this. I feel horrible for all of his victims.

I hope he gets life in prison. Does anyone know what his potential sentence might be?

He shouldn't have done it but even Gandhi admitted everyone is attracted to teen girls. Gandhi used to sleep naked with his nieces to prove he had the willpower to not act on it. But that is an admission that it's not easy to not do.

Just because you are a raging perv doesn't mean he didn't break laws.

It says he committed TWO level 5 felonies and TWO level 6 felonies. I'm not a legal expert but that's probably well over 40 years if he gets the max sentence for everything.

It honestly seems like they should clean house. It sounds like athletes and the administration knew about the massage treatments at the very least. There is no way the other coaches didn’t know.

I understand the athletes not knowing this wasn’t normal behavior for a coach. They were raised to believe their coaches have their best interests at heart. The coaches have no excuse for allowing this. Clean house.

Looking at their website, Childs is the Track coach. Who is Nicholas? Lauren is the wife, right? Why would they want her taking over the program? I’m not saying that she was involved or complicit or anything, but her family just tarnished the name of the program and school. Clean house completely. Find someone to be interim coach for indoor and outdoor season so the kids don’t get screwed anymore than they already are. I’m sure there are plenty of people that would be interested in that interim position considering the talent they have there.

If this is the case and they knew about some of this behavior prior to this victim, I would expect a civil suit against the university on behalf of the victim. It seems pretty obvious that they didn’t do anything to prevent it.

This keeps getting crazier and crazier. It sounds like he was continuing to massage athletes after they (university and wife) knew about the August incident in the affidavit? Were athletes told that a person who is under investigation for being a sexual predator was giving them these massages?

there was a thread a few days ago about male coaches not being alone with female athletes - sad and over the top.

BUT

having a private massage place in your garage for one on one massages for girls in your home?

allowing his wife to carry on as coach having condoned such an appalling set up?

This university deserves to go down as hard as it will.

It is because of ridiculous situations like this that the innocent coaches and athletes feel scared.

Is there a chance the wife didn’t know what was happening? It’s entirely possible she was being manipulated as well and is now being guilty by association. If she’s a good person, and we have no reason to doubt this, then it seems as though she deserves some sympathy from the masses.

Obviously you sound like you are far too close to the situation to be completely objective. Clearly you have a lot of emotions tied up in this and are not able to take a step back and look and see it from any other point of you. I have nothing to do with it whatsoever so I am going to continue with the assumption that she had no idea or was being manipulated her self. Unless you have some sort of concrete evidence that she was involved at all other than a feeling, then that’s the way that we on outside choose to view it.
