Not to mention that a bunch of states only have one large university: Wyoming, Arkansas, Hawaii, Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Nebraska

California alone has at least 15 state universities that are better than Oregon, and at least 20 more private universities that are better.

Now you are showing your pettiness by insulting a bunch of states and a bunch of universities. Third-world West Virginia? Don't be so smug and insulting, especially when you are throwing around a bunch of info that isn't even true. It is clear that you got your info from Letsrun in regards to Oregon's status in the world because it is not true. Did you even pay attention to the US News rankings because most of what you made up is not close to the facts? West Virginia is ranked 241. Ole Miss is 160. Kentucky is 133. Oregon is 103. I saw only one D2 school ranked ahead of Oregon, Colorado School of Mines, at 88. But the point is that there are 5000 colleges in the US. Oregon is better than the vast majority of the other colleges and it is a fine school. West Virginia is a good school. Kentucky is a good school. Somebody with a degree from Oregon who also ran track there will do fine in an interview with a major corporation in Chicago or Nashville or Miami. A degree from some other completely unknow school and you will not make it to the interview. Your comments are as silly as this thread. Hasay has had a great career and is one of the best distance runners in US history but a few people state otherwise and the uneducated believe it to be true. One person calls Oregon a clown college and Letsrun believes it to be true.

No. I would never insinuate that on a public board even if I thought it. I was not referring to anything like that.

It doesn't matter.

The reason I did not type it out is because no one knows who can be reading the boards. It can be the athlete themselves who may get hurt by the comments. It can be the coach, advisor, it can be anyone.

It was actually about an aspect of being an athlete that is separate to training (think things like: nutrition, injury treatment, additional therapies).

What matters is that 1. I hope she is healthy and well and 2. I hope she improves and gets back to running well.

I do wonder about all of her weightlifting. As another poster pointed out, long distance runners really should not need to do more than bodyweight exercises but that's for her and her coach to figure out.

Maybe her and her coach don't know any better. A lot of training philosophies get passed down from coach to coach and from PT to PT without really studying whether something works or is harmful.
