You can post all the links you want, but until you show that lockdowns lead to excess mortality you haven't proven a thing.

It may be true that lockdowns cause more domestic violence and drug addiction. It's probably true that it is harming immunization and other public health efforts.

But it has potentially positive effects as well:

* Fewer auto accidents

* Cleaner air/fewer deadly asthma attacks

* Healthier eating from eating out less?

* More time to exercise

* Fewer deaths from COVID-19!!!

Have you read the research about how you catch this thing? It's nearly impossible to get it by being outside. If they warm up apart, race for 4 minutes, and then go about their day, they have almost no risk of catching covid. The speed at which they are traveling would be enough to mix the air and dilute any viral load potentially being put out by anyone.

I am really rooting for these guys. I hope all 7 come away with a PR and are happy. Who is the pacer? I heard them say that they need 6 to finish for a record so may want pacer to also finish in case 2 get tangled.

This is true. The bigger risk comes from fans coughing on each other and the risks associated with travel to and from the event.

Overall, this isn't likely to be a super-spreader event. Still, if it were my kid he wouldn't be attending.

That being said, it will be a fun race to watch. Does anyone know if it will be streamed?

Milesplit will be streaming the race. Their stream will begin at 10:00 PM CT. I am unsure if it will be free or paid.

Easton Allred will put his enemies in lockdown. According to an inside source he is in sick shape and is guaranteed to break 4. He did a 10 mile tempo under 50 minutes at altitude. He also subscribed to Strava, so overall a very good guy who cares about the well-being of a great company.

You need to understand viral load. None of what you say matters when you are outside and the virus gets diluted.

I gotta say, at this point I don't think one more instance of a group of high schoolers getting together is going to make one bit of difference. I've got a couple of college kids and a high schooler that are all home now and keeping young adults socially isolated for months is not realistic. For the first few weeks, yeah, I think everyone was on board, but for months on end? This race is not any worse than what high school seniors have been doing across the country for weeks now, anyone who thinks differently is fooling themselves.
