Robert Young fakes run across America

The Run4Peace event is advertised as a relay with 10 x 10km segments. They were looking for 10 runners for each segment to run along with RY and Adam. That'd be 1000 runners in total ( or maybe less if you want to run a few segments. )

Anyway, if you follow the 'sign-up' link, you can see how many people are currently registered for each segment. Isn't looking too good with only 22 of the 100 segments having anyone running, and 38 runners in total. They were probably hoping that RY would return from the Trans-Con with new world record in hand and the UK running community would be throwing themselves at his feet.

If I had time I'd love to turn up in kit meet them both, then get my baton or whatever and hop in my mates camper van and drive alongside them.

I could get to Bristol... that way be worth taking the time off work to see if RY is prepared to say anything.

It's heartening to see hardly any activity on RY's Facebook feeds or anywhere else, but I wonder if it was always thus? Was he ever really a somebody who has been taken down a peg, or has he always been on the outside looking in?

I'm thinking he's probably more (in)famous because of this epic cheat, moreso than if he'd legitimately broken the transcon record.

Reading some of the comments from Rob's supporters makes me bang my head against a wall.

He is, quite reasonably, asked to state when and where he ran his PBs and to state any officially timed ultras he had ran in the UK. He responds to the ultras question, so was clearly reading the thread, but didn't even acknowledge the PB question.

Some of his supporters respond by claiming they don't know their PBs either, but these are people who are running 10k in an hour and couldn't tell you where or when they ran their PB or indeed their time. That's the difference that seems to fly over their head in an RV, Rob does know his "PB", and even has it on his website, but can't/won't tell where or when. If you know your time, to the second, you would know the rest.

I once accidentally started my watch as I was driving away from my run and added a few miles at up to 65mph to my GPS data. When I got home and uploaded my run it told me I'd set a bunch of records, and then I was able to crop the run to finish when I'd actually finished. But if there were any segments on my drive, the CR-holder would have gotten an "uh-oh" email even though by the time he checked it, it would've been rectified.

No not necessarily, as lots dont appear on there. But if he would tell us the events WHERE he got these amazing times, we could check the results.

But of course he wont, as those times are fantasy, and he absolutely refuses to name the events they happened at

So with the investigation report being released this week, what's everyone's prediction? Will it clear RY of (willful) wrong doing? Or will it condemn him for cheating? Will any such condemnation be limited to him, or will it accuse his cohorts? What will the repercussions be?

I'm fairly optimistic. The evidence is so overwelming that I don't think that anyone can reasonably say RY is on the level about the race. I think he will have been judged to have cheated, and I think others will be named as cohorts in the effort.

I think SKINS will readily separate from RY, since his brand has already been tarnished sufficiently that it will be no small loss.

But that's just my two cents. What say all of you?

It appears that the MarathonmanUK website is down. Could this be a hint of what we might expect in the pending report?

I think Skins will drop him, but the investigation will be very wishy washy and reluctant to definitely accuse him of anything..

I think RY will carry on doing what he did before, as he still has friends and supporters. Dont know where he will get all his money and funding from though. Though i expect another company will take him on. People like him always land on their feet.
