I'm going from memory here, so correct me if I'm wrong. But the speaker does not become president.

If there is no winner in the Electoral College then the president is chose by the House of Representatives. In this case, Trump would win because the vote is done by state delegations. Republican White Nationalists have more majority delegations than Democrats.

That would be done by the new session of Congress which must start by January 3rd. If that session of Congress can't decide on a winner by the 20th then the Speaker of the House does become the acting president.

three major problems in the US:

1) Any multi-ethnic nation is going to have a lot of conflicts like these. Inevitable. People are tribal and different ethnic groups have different cultures. They will fight.

2) The conservatives in America fundamentally don't believe in government. They want to kill it. They are relentless in their anti-government work. They lie and cheat to defend their 'markets are always right government is always wrong' views.

3) The US has always been 1/3 yahoo 1/3 enlightenment 1/3 apathetic. It's who we are. Social media has let the yahoos gain power over the enlightenment folks.

Meanwhile, POTUS's recent distractions appear to possibly be bearing some fruit: The Gap is back *below* fifteen percentage points. At this rate The Gap could be back to single digits by Labor Day!

Someone needs to come in set an example and bring honor back to the WH, but they would be expected to pretend the other side isn’t still full of criminals as to not upset millions of brainwashed voters who have the power to give us another trump down the road. I think trump has done permanent damage.

I'd say that nothing is permanent in the US and we have zero attention spans, but it turns out that the Confederacy is still fighting the civil war and the civil rights movement.

There would only be 65 Senators in the next session without an election. 35 seats are up for election. McConnell would be out. The next session would have 30 Republicans, 33 Democrats, and 2 Independents.

I think it's pretty obvious Trump just wanted to distract from the GDP numbers with this tweet so i wouldn't get too down on it.

You can’t be sure Cain got coronavirus from that specific rally.

It does show he was not concerned about being careful.

Could have gotten it on the flight there or back.

Maybe some other travel he did.

Maybe he visited people or had guests at his house.

The timeline doesn’t look good.

And regardless of where he specifically contracted it, his attitude was that he was not at risk.

The rally is still a symbol of death and disease.

And the convention that was moved from North Carolina to Florida has now been scrapped.

Good idea. Finally.

Maybe some good can come out of Cain's death. Maybe all the Trump minions who have follwed Trump's lead and denied the danger of Covid will awaken from their land of denial. Maybe they will recognise reality and take steps to saves their lives and the lives of others. But maybe not.
