He will without concern risk the health of the nation. It's his only chance.
Here's what doesn't make sense and hasn't made sense for the last 2 or 3 months. Had the POTUS simply said/tweeted every day to wear a mask and social distance, there's a decent chance that we'd have less push back from those who appear to be part of the Trump crowd to not wear masks. This may have led to less spread of the virus even though the country would have begun to open up. In all likelihood this one simple move would have led to an easy re-election for Trump. Now he's faced with a problem on all sides when it pertains to the virus and the economy plus he likely didn't win any fans by his reaction/non-reaction to the protests.
He is losing this election himself and it was remarkably easy to avoid doing so. Now he's stuck on a wish.
Trump doesn't play in a field of subtleties. He has gotten to where he is with a black or white game plan, and that is how he establishes his bearing. That's why he has to be divisive and polarizing - because that is the only thing he knows, and that is how you play the Trump game. Clearly, that is how he does everything.
In that vein, the wearing of masks and advocating for the wearing of them, is playing to the other side. In his strategy, there's simply the economy or the shut-down, and for his side to win, any acquiescing weakens his effort. and plays to the covid containment side. It would be weak, both from his hardball strategy and from the appearances of it.
