In her defense, though, conditions were horrific in that race. Weather was probably even hotter than at vitality where Bester and Fenton both ran sub-30.
Yet another post from BPN’s very own Jonathan Davies. Does he truly think he’ll win this Mickey Mouse race? Every male and female with a real job and kids will be kicking his ass. What would be more impressive is him putting his work into a sub 3 marathon without being obsessed with his endorsements and own personal brand. Who am I kidding though? He knows he can’t do it. He’s scared of it. He’ll do a blindfolded hopscotch from Edinburgh to London instead. #GoOneMore

rolling in dough with no responsibilities. must be nice man
My favorite is the guy commenting on it commending him for doing all that solo parenting and the effort of setting up to film for it. Has to be so weird from the kids’ perspective. “Daddy, it’s time for my bedtime story!” “Okay Johnny, daddy just needs to set up his tripod, camera, and lighting.”
This is the weirdest part about any influencer. I think most of their followers are either numb to it or oblivious to the fact that every moment you see is curated this way. The idea of these grown adults walking into a room, setting up their camera, leaving the room, only to walk back in... that is insane behavior! I'm thankful that following this thread means I don't have to watch these guys and can follow along from the Sparknotes you all provide but it's concerning how normalized all this behavior is and how many people watch and think "wow, what a great and honest window into this person's real life!"
this 100%. when you take a step back and actually think about what the influencer has to do (setup a camera, script/plan/act, edit) just to capture their 'normal' life or a 'moment', you realize its batsh1t insane and weird. yes i get that has to be done in order to film a reel/video/movie...but its still weird and the complete opposite of natural.
floberg's kids are absolutely growing up with what will become a very peculiar mindset for each of them, and thats honestly a shame imo. wonder if he even realizes what hes doing, but he probably either doesnt care or think its artistic and cool so wouldnt bat an eye. his children will surely follow in his footsteps so doesnt really matter.
but yea...a full grown ass man doing all that to make a fake warm lovey dovery im a boss family man reel for instagram...just wild to me. but he's got an audience and his monetary livelihood depends on being this character. so whatever floats his boat and keeps the bill paid i suppose. i dont envy the guy lol. but he has enough robotic fans to stroke his ego that he probably freaking loves everything and isnt even aware of the clown behavior hes exhibiting

Floberg has zero self awareness.
What is the guy doing all day? He's apparently a full time YouTuber but runs at 5am or at night when the kids are asleep
Of all the things to rail on him for. You chose a wholesome video of a weekend with his kids. You just have a hard-on for hating this guy.
But that's the exact reason he is railing on him. The entirety of his 'family man' persona is 100% performative.
In my anecdotal experience, people who say, "I'm a good father" are already slightly less likely to be good fathers.
Now, Broberg doesn't say this. He shouts the following repeatedly over all of his public channels:
"Look how much of a great father I am, and all those core memories I create for my children (ike that one time when I granted my son a 3-second clip of him hitting a ball in his playoff game while I was crying on camera because I bonked in my marathon)."
I don't have enough experience with people saying inane stuff like this, but I'm going to assume the probability of them actually being good fathers a fair bit lower than in my first example.
A lot of SJD vibes with this one. Broberg is a lot like Seth in this sense.
"The kids don't get Andy's unless I PR or set an FKT!" "Let me film them and show the world how I'm such a great father and family man"....because this is proof for my case!

Battersea is flat, but it can become incredibly crowded.
The RunThrough events feel like runfluencer promoted cash grabs. I did the half at Battersea with them and it was horrific. It’s eight laps, and you have to track them yourself. After the first lap you’re already lapping people and constantly getting stuck behind them.
Then, to make matters worse on the long strait section there were some absolute c***s doing intervals (with their tops of course) against the flow of the runners -- making it even harder to pass people. Then to top things off, my chip time did not even get recorded.
Can't help but laugh at calum goddard on his latest pod with Hugo not understanding that you can't influence your way onto a x country team for "content". The concept of earning your place on a team is unfathomable.
2 years ago Culling was an elite starter at the London Marathon and today she’s boasting about winning a run through 10k averaging 3:45s. Hilarious. Remember when someone once made allegations about her doping? Always thought it was harsh. That is one thing I’ll stand by
"Someone" is Matt Fox, a certified lunatic. From what I recall she had a legal TUE for thyroid medication. People have thyroid problems, it happens. She has had a benign tumour removed and underwent radiotherapy to treat it, before she even started running. So I don't think it's remotely credible to claim that she is faking it.
She has stagnated because, as she herself has alluded to, hasn't been taking her training as seriously the last few years. I don't really understand why people get that mad about it tbh, it's her life. It is a bit of a shame to see someone very talented waste their potential though.
Had a nosy at her strava the other day though and looks like she's starting to build decent mileage... maybe she'll get back near her best in London this year! Fingers crossed.
I have only ever watched 1 over Jake Dearden video but his Houston race video popped up and I put it on. That was before I saw it was 44 minutes but I watched it in intervals over the whole day.As an aside, he seems pretty... boring? Very little personality was coming across in the video.
Anyway, his girlfriend/partner/wife made him sound insane. Things like going to bed before New Years only to wake up again and then head back to bed (either stay up or don't watch the fireworks) and maintaining a huge calorie deficit. I spent my Christmas period drinking for 2 weeks (not healthy, be better people) and I'm not that far down the road from him. It is like these hybrid athlete types feel like you have to sacrifice your whole life in pursuit of a goal.

It's also worth noting that the greatest masters runner in British history, Mr Nick Bester, who I hear ran a sub-30 10k in the blistering heat of London, was her personal pacer for her PB. That's got to be worth at least 5 mins.

we need ofcom to step in and regulate podcasts like they do the telly

every podcast needs to be taxed. £1000 per podcast, probably be able to quadruple the NHS budget on UK podcasts alone.

Were they absolute C****, or did RunThrough just not pay for exclusive use of the park?

A mix of both, they use half the path, so you have a small lane. I still think it's poor form to do intervals against the flow of runners -- especially given the size of the park.

Yeah fair play. Probably entirely unnecessary for them to do that, and they could have avoided the race if they wanted to.
But also they are entitled to use the path just as much as those in the race.
So ultimately it's RunThrough's choice to provide a poor racing opportunity and runners' choice to continue paying RunThrough to do so.

It's weird to see it like you're babysitting your own kids.
