Pretty dick-ing stupid.
Pretty dick-ing stupid.
why does everyoneon this thread have penis envy
As the thread rapidly approaches a thousand posts...
I'm trying to decide whether it's because the Atlantic Region has so many more enthusiastic runners and fans, compared to the other regions; or because the AR's schools are weak enough so that there's plenty of time for the Atlantic guys to post!
Joking aside, I do appreciate the updates. My free time is limited these days, and this thread is like one-stop spectating.
The women's poll just goes to show why these polls are so bogus. NYU and Brockport just handed TCNJ here heads and they still are ranked below them. I don't care if a girl did run with just one shoe on. Looking at the results it wouldn't have mattered much. It's interesting how they stay high in the polls and it looks like they are in charge of them. Come on lets throw the polls out the window, and look at head to head competition. They are all opionion anyways. It will all shake out in a couple of weeks, but looking at results it looks like these other two teams are for real.
I like how Oberlin put the pack times in interesting to see.
Besides SUNYACS, any other excitement this weekend?
sunyacs aren't this weekend
I know that, I really just wanna know whats going on this weekend, rather than hear SUNYACs on the next weekend, right now its the only thing that has my interest until regionals.
State meet is this weekend at U of R. As an alum it's weird seeing it before Saratoga (the best xc meet ever, btw), although I understand why they did it.
Should be a good meet (if all run their A teams, of course), and a solid showdown of SLU and RIT. Here are the rankings from the NYSCTC site:
1 St. Lawrence- 70 (7)
2 RIT-61
3 Rochester-57
4 Ithaca-48
5 Hamilton-42
6 Rensselaer-37
7 Nazareth-25
8 Alfred-24
9 Union-14
10 Hartwick-7
Personally I think Ithaca will finish third, but other than that the rankings look pretty reasonable. RIT might upset SLU, but we'll see.
Here's some excitement. According to Oneonta's site, the red dragons are headed to Saratoga this weekend for RPI's invite.
Which is interesting because according to RPI's site, the engineers are holding said invitation the following week.
Looks as if the Atlantic region conglomerate schedule is just as confused as I am because they have Oneonta going to SUNYACs the weekend after it actually occurs.
Should be a good time.

what the dick
I was actually just going to ask about this. A few other teams (Plattsburgh, Vassar, maybe more) also have Saratoga down for this weekend. Vassar, in particular, has both the 'Saratoga Invite' and the 'RPI Invite' on their schedule; both at SPAC. Maybe they're running in the open division at Suburban Councils?
The date of the NYSCTC Championship was changed at the beginning of the season, so my guess is some of those schools just didn't change the schedule on their athletics website. Originally it was going to be the week between E8 and Regionals.
There are 2 Toga meets this year. One this weekend and one next weekend.

oh!
looks like NYU finally got some of the recognition it deserves in the latest poll... #3 and #7 but allegheny is still ahead of them at #6 ... why? i think they're at least where they should be in the region, i don't believe NYU is faster than Geneseo or Cortland. now RIT should probably be over SLU as well...
Allegheny had their #1 and #2 guy in by a good amount before NYU had their #1 guy in. At nationals or any other good and large race that would hurt NYU a lot more then it did at Oberlin becuase there should be a lot more places between Allegheny #2 guy and NYU's #1 guy. I think the polls were pretty good this time around.
Although alleghenys top runners were a bit ahead, their 5th runner was way back, which would also hurt them in bigger meets
How are the polls good this time around. RIT is only 26th, and Brandeis who even Plattsburgh beat this past weekend is 23rd! Middlebury who both RIT and Plattsburgh is ranked for the first time, and they are in front of Plattsburgh. Granted Plattsburgh shouldn't be ranked... but come on, two teams that both of these Atlantic Region teams BEAT head to head are ranked as stronger teams. This is ridiculous...
