About damn time! The experiment is over. It is time to get the program back on schedule and back on the map. Some energy for the program some love for the program some foresight and intelligence will quickly turn it around.
In 2024 it takes a presence to be relevant with that other program churning out faces and we have been ignoring our own. Popcorn anyone.

It’s not the coaches that are the problems at UCLA but the administrators. That AD is a crackhead and has ruined UCLA sports as a whole

Will this be the position that starts the domino effect? My guess is no.
I believe that the current hiring process of hiring head coaches is BULLS@%$. You have hiring committees that do not know anything about the sport and are asking vague and general questions to the applicants.
Most assistant coaches list all the accomplishments that the head coach (that they work for) has accomplished, as their own. I have seen a lot of assistant coach's resumes that only had 1 or 2 years of experience, and they listed a lot of accolades. When I did a deep dive, they had worked for a coach that had a long history of success, and they joined the train that was chugging down the track. So after one year, they have all of these things listed, and it looks like this person is an all star coach, but in reality, they are listing the head coach's success.
I also have seen where a coach ran a program in the ground, but was lucky enough to have 1 or 2 stud athletes in the program, which made them look good. But when you take a macro look at the program, it is a "poop" show.
The hiring committees should be required to call other coaches in the conference and ask the competitors abut their professional opinion of them. I believe our profession is honorable enough to give honest opinions about our colleagues.
Having terrible hires hurts our profession and drives down our value. That is one of the many reasons that we all are not getting paid like we should. We have terrible hiring committees that look at the cost of the hire instead of the quality of the hire. There are inexperienced coaches getting hired as head coaches, and coaches will zero skills given multiple opportunities.
Time to work on cleaning this up. It starts with the administration and get hiring committees that actually do the work to hire the right person.

Every sport has terrible hires....even in the professional leagues. FBS, NBA and NFL have had coaches that never even played the sport they coach.

The AD at UCLA is on crack? What?
So exactly how has he ruined the UCLA athletic department?

Since he’s been there Football and Basketball are at an all time low. He doesn’t’ even want to be there and should have never been hired as an AD. He was interviewing at Ohio this year , but Ohio realized what a deadbeat he is. The man is a cancer and just like all other UC schools the sports are dying at UCLA. The Alum in the 80’s and 90’s will never have the glory days back
The AD has done what? Have you checked the 2 titles won last week? The state of the football team and basketball are trending up with a rocket. You sound ill informed and like an apologist. Seven years it is safe to say it was the coaching, a bad hire led to bad results. The irony is they just got around to putting the staff together correctly
LOL you should delete this. Clearly you want it to be the AD, and you are sounding racist, hired for the wrong reasons? Explain that.
Basketball is a season or 2 removed from a final four, and had the number 1 recruiting class recently. Football just hired a new coach who is killing the recruiting.
We just moved to the B1G and you post this? How embarrassing. Making moves and moving forward, making big boy decisions.

The dude is terrible. The football coach is killing recruiting for a Cal State not a P5. Their athletic department he definitely lacking the last 10years , but got worse with Martin Jarmond. Since this is a running page UCLA’s Track team is a bad really bad. They go through coaches like candy. It’s not the lack of coaching ability, but no support for the sport in general. UCLA thinks it’s a football school , but it’s a nothing school now. No good coach wants to touch UCLA. The place screams death trap. If all else fails they can hire someone from Hamas to check more boxes. ✅

You said the glory days of the 1980's. You are still living in the past, over 40 years ago. Come into the present. UCLA basketball at an all time low? What? Weren't they just in the Final Four a few seasons ago? Didn't they win a few NCAA titles in a few other sports recently. Finished 14th in the Learfield Directors Cup in 2023.
