For what it's worth, Mountain View's #2 dropped out of the race after he got tripped during the second mile. MV will be back.

Is the Rough Rider Varsity course at Woodward the same course as Clovis?

I would assume not because those who ran both generally ran Rough Rider fast, in some cases by quite a bit

If so, these results are insane.

It definitely is the same course, you can check strava maps. Some really fast times came out of that invite.

Dang! I think Matilda Torres would've made 3rd in the merge last year with those times (although a slower time). At Rough Rider... That's crazy.

I feel like this question comes up constantly about any races that aren't held by CIF. The only times races held at Woodward Park aren't the standard 5k course are middle school (3k) and college/university races (4mi, 8k, and there is a 10k course).

The weather was pretty much perfect today. It was a little breezy earlier in the day but I believe it was only about 68 by the time the boys raced! The Central Section all-time list got another pretty big rearrangement after this one!

EDIT: The statement above is speaking to the Varsity races. I am aware that Roughrider always holds 3.5k JV and FS sections.

Oakdale won the small school division, even after losing their big 3 from last year, and they beat 2-time D5 state champs Crystal springs uplands.

These Roughrider times are insane

Kinda had a feeling Sagiraju was going to go insane. Honestly feel like he’s in good contention for a state title along with Zavaleta. This may sound like glazing but I think Sagiraju definitely has the capabilities to beat someone like Zavaleta- who’s clearly the favorite for division 1.

Summer Wilson won the girls race.

Although Barker wasn’t #1 on the team, Trabuco Hills had their full top 5 for the first time and they won

No Beckman boys definitely a bummer, but nice to see numbers in the sweepstakes races looking healthy again. There were a couple years after the pandemic that participation levels in the sweepstakes was a little sad.

Big win for Trabuco girls 32-80 over JSerra. They put 3 in front on JSerra’s #1 and had all 5 in ahead of JSerra’s 3rd. Could probably make the case JSerra running on some fatigued legs with a month straight of big races, but Trabuco looked incredibly impressive.

The girls battle for NXN is truly fascinating, 5 extremely good teams battling for what you have to think is at least 3 spots, maybe 4 depending on how State shakes out. Would not want to end up 3rd in D1.
