Plenty of Nixon cronies went to prison. There are reasons to charge all of the mentioned with crimes. Trump is going to lose. Biden has said he will not pardon him. His best bet is to resign after losing but before Biden takes over and have Pence pardon him. Will be interesting to see how it all goes down.

Agreed. I (and others) have been saying for a while that this would be his best strategy.

And it may be best for the country, as well. When Ford pre-emptively pardoned Nixon, many people were outraged and it may well have cost Ford the 1976 election. Yet with time many of those who excoriated Ford back then have concluded that the pardon was probably for the best--that the country, which was facing so much else at the time, didn't need the convulsion of a former president on trial. As a lagniappe, a Trump resignation would mean his absence from the inauguration for the next president. And this too would probably be helpful for the country.

Of course a federal pardon wouldn't prevent state prosecutions. But I actually could envision NYS's declining to prosecute on the tax crimes, for instance, at least if DJT's returns were made available so that the criminality (if any) was clear to all. Or NYS's prosecuting on those crimes, but cutting a plea deal that would include no jail time.

The allegations about the sex crimes, on the other hand...

Another day of improvement in the US and the globe. In terms of the 7 day rolling average of daily deaths.

The US fell again and is at 776 per day, down from 1,485 a month ago.

The world fell for the third day in a row and is at 4,317, down from 4,666 a month ago

Brazil keeps marching in the wrong direction, up to 18th worst nation per capita. Was at 28th a month ago. But Brazil may have peaked - its 7 day average of daily deaths has fallen for around 5 days straight.

In the US states, AZ has been recent problem and has moved up to 23rd worst state in deaths from 25th last week.

The US flip continues...until recently the problem was the Northeast...now it's all the Southern states. This is fascinating: a list of new cases (not per capita). This used to be dominated by the Northeast. Not anymore.

Most new cases:

CA

FL

TX

AZ

NC

LA

GA

NY

AL

SC

and so on. But the cases are not turning into deaths. We'll see if that happens.

For ex, NC had only 6 deaths but 1,428 new cases. Striking. Probably not sustainable.
