Truett and Cam Hanes talking crap about Sage almost immediately on Cam Hanes recent podcast. Sages name is dropped 1 minute 40 seconds in. They say they don't care about the skeptics and the haters but it doesn't seem that way to me... "It's all good baby"
Sage also casting shade with his new reel on becoming a Runfluencer... I did chuckle at the part about wearing clothing that is completely inappropriate for the sport that you're doing

He forgot to add, "Become a snake oil salesman for $200 pillows and other assorted useless gadgets."
Glad this is the case. Maybe these brands are starting to see sense with these sham wannabe sub-elite runners. There are plenty of athlete out there actually putting in the grind who deserve the support. She is definitely not one of them.

Obviously I agree but if those athletes don't get any publicity for the brand why would the brand give the athlete money? The reality is they are much better off spending their money on somebody getting hundreds of thousands of views on videos than somebody who's a bit faster but wins races in front of about 300 people
Joe Wigfield was scandalously overlooked recently.
No Brit has ever ran faster over 10k
Gidey is Eritrean, not really Irish. there were a couple of Irish lads right behind him. Its pretty clear atm that Ireland have a lot of much better 5km/10km guys than GB
Manthorpe must be on some juice, the guys woeful in 90% of his races then pulls a 27:40 out of absolutely nowhere, definitely a suspect
Whether you like him or not been a national class runner for years now, that is borderline defamatory.

meh. To quote Daniel Pink "like it or not, we're all in Sales" at some point and level. What noble profession/occupation do you work in?
My $200 pillow feels great btw!
But did Cam Hanes and Truett really mention me? You know the funny thing is, in all my social media posts I've never actually mentioned his name explicitly. So they just assume I am only talking about him? For example I'd say [in General Terms]: "A lot of 'hybrid athletes' running marathons who are influencers and enjoy social media attention might be on PEDs". I never accused anyone directly of "doping"!
I enjoy Satire...and part of that is poking fun at the whole "Run-Influencer Industry" (which I am a part of). The simple-minded mottos, the play on Kipchoge's "no human is limited" and "if you just put your mind to it and work hard anything is possible!".
It's like as a coach sometimes we have to be realistic with athlete's goals and dreams and it's a delicate balance between not hurting their confidence and aspirations, while at the same time applying the science of training for appropriate workout paces (be that "goal race pace" vs "current race pace").
One little bit of "criticism" like saying "I don't think most runners realize how big of a chasm it is to go from 2:29:xx to sub 2:16:00 in the marathon" [especially when you've already trained up to 100-miles a week and had a perfect weather day at the fastest OTQ legal course in the country].....and now I'm a "hater"?!
Floberg taking his running to new levels and reaching GOAT YouTube runner status with his latest video. Running double the distance of Sirpocs longest run!!
Hugely impressive.
On another topic - that Runna podcast is absolutely dreadful.
Did you just order a five-dollar shake? Mm-hmm. That's a shake? That's milk and ice cream? Last I heard. That's five dollars? You don't put bourbon in it or nothin'? No. Just checking.
Three of the young, development level middle distance runners I work with are being helped by Coros. Zero sport related social media presence at the moment.
Yaseen dropped two recent vids about his running history, from high school up through college.
He's definitely... let's say confident. But it really is a "tell all" about his experiences in the NCAA system. We're only getting one (his) side of what happened; but it highlights that in many schools, athletes are just workhorses that get ridden hard and put up wet and their best interests / long-term development aren't really the programs' focuses.
Probably even more so when you are (or maybe were, pre roster limits) a distance runner on team sharing scholarships across sprints, field, and multi athletes.
Cole has moved to Ely because of a girl! It must be serious, seems a pretty dead place to live but he must have a job up there I guess.
I will actually miss him whizzing past me at all the east kent races.
Hes probably been the most inspiring runner in my life since about 2019.
Yeah Ely is dead - tiny and not much going on. However, it’s less than 30 minutes from Cambridge where there are lots of quality runners and training groups affiliated with the university and Cambridge & Coleridge. If he’s moved to Ely for the foreseeable, he should link up with some of the groups there.

Talk about fragile egos...
Sage just do a hyrox. “Marathoner tries hyrox” *shocked sweaty face* thumbnail
Boom. More subscribers. You’re welcome.
Fly to Las Vegas, do the hyrox, drive to Zion and FKT the path up to angels landing. “Can I do a hyrox and FKT angels landing in 1 day” *thinking face, grimace* Boom. There’s 2 videos for you already. No charge
Start off with 4-5 videos of the standard spread (three different sub-T, easy, long), and then just focus on time trials. I’ve been doing lots of indoor easy biking this winter and one of my favourite channels is crown my run. Granted J. Mills is pretty entertaining and they have the 3 brothers aspect, but it’s fun to see different parkruns and videos where the entire thing is a « race ».
You’d also get to show off incremental progress, which if you’re someone set to improve with NSM over the next 3ish years, could get a good following. Get some friends to join you on the NSM journey on the channel.
As much as Bester is a polarizing figure his type of full-parkrun video helps the indoor bike slog, too.
Sprinkle in the occasional training video to remind people that the consistency is the driver of success, and NSM, while bland, is a great model. Post once every couple weeks.
I’ve also enjoyed A Serious Hobby Jogger, who is basically doing a version of NSM YouTubing already.
Extremely dull content in itself though. You've got to have the personality to pull it off and also have to be fast enough to be aspirational. And that's what makes Nick Bester the greatest athlete to grace these shores.
I’ll grant that an engaging personality would help buckets, but that’s true of any channel. I think there is something to be said for someone consistently running PRs over several years. That’s when we see a lot of these channels blow up—and when people hit plateaus, it gets less interesting if it goes on too long.
And you don’t have to be fast enough to be aspirational, you just have to be relatable, and if you show the journey of how you become fast (and show how to do it), even better. Imagine if sirpoc had POV footage of each of his races from his ~28 min 5 k through to present?
Floberg runs a 4:38 mile on his treadmill, tags it as a Race, says he filmed it all and the episode will be “so gnarly.”
The U.S.’s reserves of strategic cringe remain full thanks to running influencers.
Look at his HR on Strava, jumps up to 160 almost straight away then stays at 167 for most of the "all out effort"
He states his Max HR is 190 but it is clearly either way lower (Marathon PB was hitting 160 first half then up to 168 at the end) or he has low glycogen or other medical issue which is keeping his HR abnormally low. He uses the Coros arm band for HR measurements which I believe it top quality.
170 probably makes sense with his easy runs being in the 115 range. Strange he has misjudged his Max HR - Probably why he hasnt a clue how fast marathon effort is. He thinks he has gears there that he simply doesnt
Hardest Geezer has announced he is going to try and qualify for team GB and run in the 24 hour world champs 2027. At the moment he is going all out for a sub 2:30 mara in London
