I can attest to the fact that I never got my Georgia absentee ballot back. First they told us that you could email the application in. So I did. Then weeks went by with no response. Finally, I see a message on the county registrar's web site saying that if you emailed and didn't get a ballot back, you should snail mail or fax. So I faxed applications for the three voters in my household. We got two ballots back just in time to hopefully get them postmarked by today.
As for why the third ballot never showed up, I guess I'll never know.
Of course, the demand for absentee ballots has been overwhelming and according to reports, my problem is not unique. Add to that, Georgia switched to new (hopefully) more secure voting machines and now those are having issues.
I shudder to think what will happen in November when demand for voting hits an all time high. Republicans in congress are refusing to allocate desperately needed funds to hire more people to process absentee ballots.
Republicans are hoping for (and causing) mass chaos in November. It's the only way they can win.

That county (Fulton, GA) that experienced the greatest difficulty in voting leans heavily guess which way? Democrat.

You can be religious, and morally and fiscally conservative and still have common sense and give merit to basic science and math. On the common sense front, I know way too many Rs who are really hardheaded and lazy when it comes to dissecting grey area issues and that is exactly what we see reflected in the MSM (including FOX). I lived in Europe 8 years (5 in Germany and 3 in France) and never saw anything even close to this level of boneheadedness from conservatives. No one was entertaining the idea that dinosaurs and people coexisted, that the effects of global warming are a hoax, that rich individuals and corporations voluntarily help the little guy (e.g. trickle down effect), that it's better to deny citizens healthcare and for the country to pay a fortune when they inevitably have to go to the ER, that certain individual rights trump the right of others to live in a safe society, and the list goes on. Yes, these are common sense issues in almost all other developed nations. Common sense is just not a strong trait on the right in this country. Sure, that assertion plays right into the idea that liberals are elitist, etc. But the reality is an ignorant and uneducated population is nothing but destructive.

We had an issue with millions of Americans not having health insurance.
So Democrats passed a law that had a lot of layers. It provided for most employer coverage to stay the same. It penalized companies for not proving care. It penalized individuals for not having coverage. It created an exchange to purchase insurance from. It provided subsidies for low income earners. It expanded medicaid. It mandated coverage for those with pre-existing conditions. It allowed parental coverage to extend to children up to the age of 26.
All of that lead to a huge increase in Americans having access to healthcare.
Republican politicians said they didn't kike that. They said they'd get rid of that.
But they had no plan for how to do that or what to replace that with.
And they straight up failed when they had the chance.
Complicated problems require complicated solutions.
Republicans have shown that they it has to be simple for them to pass anything.

I generally agree with you, but I also think that conservatism does not have a monopoly on stupid voters. There are lots of them on the liberal side as well. I would say that liberalism is generally more supportive of intellectualism though.

I'm not totally sure that shutting down absentee voting helps Republicans. There is a lot of research that says it doesn't help one party over the other.
In this epidemic, I suspect that older voters will be more scared to go to the polls than younger voters. If they shut down absentee voting, that would work in favor of Democrats this time around. Tiny may be shooting himself in the foot.
Now I want to be fair. To Georgia's credit, they did send absentee voter applications to every voter. Of course, it would have been better to do like California and just send everyone a ballot. Adding the extra step of sending the application to the registrar and then hoping to get a ballot back just wasted resources and disenfranchised voters like me. But at least Georgia did send out pre-printed applications. All your info was already on the application. So in theory, all you had to do was check a couple of boxes, sign the application, and send it in. It would have been fairly easy if they weren't overwhelmed.

After knowing all we know about Trump...that he's a serial liar (that should be enough right there), that he's massively corrupt, that he's dumb as a box of rocks, and a whole host of other things, how can anyone who is smart vote for him? I will give to you as a reminder that he is a SERIAL LIAR, so if you say you like his stance on abortion or whatever else, how do you know he really believes that?
