Got to be one of the biggest clowns in the scamfluencer space. And that takes some doing
He also took a charity place at the London Marathon this year to pace his girlfriend, ran in his own vest (so he could do an advert and make money off it) and quietly raised less than half the minimum fundraising target (actually costing the charity hundreds of pounds as they pay for the places and need to hit minimum targets per person just to cover the costs).
For the most part I find these influencers annoying but harmless, but it's just such scummy behaviour and really shows the lack of morals some of these people have.
he would of been obliged to pay the remaining amount himself?
According to the published results in the latest instalment of the Surrey Cross Country League, Bester finishes a miserable 93rd and first scorer in Holland Sport's B Team. Surely this must be a misprint for one of Britain's finest. Vlog coming this week, excuses at the ready.
Interesting he talks of his reduced cool down for daddy duties. Mate you're running in an xc race that requires you to drive 4+ hours on a weekend.
Enter your local hampshire road races - same weekend about 30 mins from his house lovely well organised 10k, could have faced off Sirpoc again in it too. Blustery and tough conditions probably add a bit to the results. Winner was a 29 minute guy running 30 and chunks. Lovely, back home before your family knows you've gone. Could even represent a real running club in it if he wants to do that still
"Today's video is me doing sub-T intervals. The same ones I did in the video from 7 days ago. Tomorrow's video will be me plodding along at <70% heart rate. After that one, we've got an exciting sub-T session coming up. You definitely don't want to miss that. Like and subscribe for more sub-T and easy sessions."
Maybe sirpoc himself would be interesting. But I assume he won't do it. He already thinks probably everyone in this thread is a d*ck head for watching these losers content (probs correct), so I doubt he's gonna start it himself. But really, it's the only thing that would make regular NSM content interesting.
For starters NSM is niche, very niche. Most runners dont frequent LR or Reddit. They probably dont even know what it is.
Secondly, even with pages of info on the thread, a Reddit sub, Strava group and a book, you still get people who dont understand how to implement the simplest running programme ever. The general public are thick as p1g sh1t.
Also, 90% of the successful Youtube channels are aimed at newbies. Theyre easier to scam. Beginners and gymbros are where the money is and neither group is going to spend too long searching for NSM.
Just because LR has a thread on NSM doesnt mean it is popular in the "real world"
Its amasing how many want to do NSM, but want to put a spin on it by switching out/adding a workout or two and run the easy runs to fast and the workouts to fast, but still think they are doing the program. This goes with any program. People really are extremely stupid.
Efrem Gidey 27:38 PB beating his own Irish 10km record
Scott Beattie 27:41 PB (beaten on chip by Alfie Manthorpe - 27:40 PB)
WORLD XC
Rory Leonard. ouch. finished 79/114. It would have placed him 6th in the women's race.
India Weir. Respectable run and delivered on expectation. Ran the slowest leg in the GB Mixed relay Team but didn't lose any places (didnt gain any either).
India Weir should have been nowhere near the team. she was spanked in the trial race and her 1500m PB is nowhere near world class
a truly scandalous selection which hasnt been questioned as much as it should have
same goes for Millard as well, would love to here how that relay team was selected and questions marks over all the selections
Joe Wigfield was scandalously overlooked recently.

No Brit has ever ran faster over 10k
Gidey is Eritrean, not really Irish. there were a couple of Irish lads right behind him. Its pretty clear atm that Ireland have a lot of much better 5km/10km guys than GB
Manthorpe must be on some juice, the guys woeful in 90% of his races then pulls a 27:40 out of absolutely nowhere, definitely a suspect
Griff Duncan WILL prove the haters wrong this time. Despite injury injuries, he has been cross training his ass off. His goal is to run under 2:50 and qualify for Boston but I believe he’s going well under that.
This dude infuriates me. Look at his story he just posted. "Almost perfect progression run". The best part is he disabled comments on the story. It is a terrible progression run looking at the splits. I encourage everyone to see for themselves. Starts his 2 mile warm up basically <1 min slower than GMP. Already off to a terrible start. His "progression" through 7 miles is basically a 7 mile tempo at 6:53 ish pace. Doesn't look anything like a progression run to me.
Griff Duncan is at it again with a fresh 9 mile "progression run" in which he failed to progress or hold his goal marathon pace for the last two miles.
I think this guy is going to show up at the Mesa marathon, try to go out in 1:30, and not even make it to the half that quickly before either giving up or stumbling home with a 10 minute positive split. His threshold pace is maybe 7:00 give or take 5 seconds. But he's hell bent on the idea that is marathon pace is 6:52.

He's got zero chance at a 2:55 marathon, or even a sub-3, or even a 3:05. His race pace is probably 7:10-15. With one month to go if you can't hit your workout paces, you gotta downgrade your expectations.
That's genuinely quite funny that he reads this thread.
Are you reading this now Truett? If so, there's only one possible chance for you to actually run sub 2.16 in the time frame you've given yourself.
You need to immediately reach out to Sir Nick Bester and beg he takes you under his tutelage. Only then will you have the knowledge and power needed to give yourself the best chance of making it.
If Truett actually does read this thread, then I would like to slightly apologies because I have been pretty mean in my last few posts. Truett and I just have different ideas of what's inspiring. He's setting a very lofty goal and going after it. I will never be a fan of the influencer crowd doing this physique and now marathon time inflation by dedicating a full-time job to training all in the name of selling their sketchy products but evidently people respond positively to Truett's journey.
I'm also going to respond with something I did find inspiring that also involves an OTQ. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I wasn't the greatest runner myself but I loved it and so college club running was the place for me once I graduated from the high school team. In our region, there was a guy who ran for the UC Davis club named Nathan Kwan who would just dominate the club regional. He was running sub 24 xc 8ks, around 14:30 for 5k, all while training with the club team. I don't know if he even tried to walk on. Years later I was talking to a former club teammate who mentioned that Nathan had qualified for the 2020 Olympic trials with a 63 minute half marathon! I checked and he qualified for the 2024 trials too with a 2:17 at CIM but didn't run the trials. All of this while being a full-time teacher. That's inspiring! A dude who was never on a formal team after high school, never walked on D1, and just kept running for the love of the game to get two OTQs is pretty cool!
Also I want to underscore that it was surprising to me that a guy who ran 14:30 in college hit an OTQ time back when the time was easier, so if Truett does this it would be a real shock (and I'd have some questions for pharmacist too).

Maybe this has been asked here. I have been thinking about vlogging/filming training and writing up recaps, mostly focusing on NSM. What are aspects of training vids do people enjoy to see? Is it all just personality based? Visuals?
What's your gameplan?
"Today's video is me doing sub-T intervals. The same ones I did in the video from 7 days ago. Tomorrow's video will be me plodding along at <70% heart rate. Start off with 4-5 videos of the standard spread (three different sub-T, easy, long), and then just focus on time trials. I’ve been doing lots of indoor easy biking this winter and one of my favourite channels is crown my run. Granted J. Mills is pretty entertaining and they have the 3 brothers aspect, but it’s fun to see different parkruns and videos where the entire thing is a « race ».
You’d also get to show off incremental progress, which if you’re someone set to improve with NSM over the next 3ish years, could get a good following. Get some friends to join you on the NSM journey on the channel.
As much as Bester is a polarizing figure his type of full-parkrun video helps the indoor bike slog, too.
Sprinkle in the occasional training video to remind people that the consistency is the driver of success, and NSM, while bland, is a great model. Post once every couple weeks.
I’ve also enjoyed A Serious Hobby Jogger, who is basically doing a version of NSM YouTubing already.

Extremely dull content in itself though. You've got to have the personality to pull it off and also have to be fast enough to be aspirational. And that's what makes Nick Bester the greatest athlete to grace these shores.
Truett and Cam Hanes talking crap about Sage almost immediately on Cam Hanes recent podcast. Sages name is dropped 1 minute 40 seconds in. They say they don't care about the skeptics and the haters but it doesn't seem that way to me... "It's all good baby"
Phily has posted another injury comeback run on Strava. Also said in a comment she's no longer sponsored by Coros. Not looking too good for her at the moment.

Why not? Now that she's officially a hobby jogger, she can jump onto the NSA hype train. I hear it makes for great youtube content.
