That would be quite amazing. I'm not ready to call that just yet. I do believe it is possible though.
Hopefully enough Texans are realizing just how badly they've been conned.
Texas going blue would be one of the best ways to shout at Trumpists that Trumpism is a dead end. I mean Americans sort of respect that place in a category other states aren't in. Would be hard for white male trumpists to push back against that one.
That said, it's pretty unlikely to happen.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.

this 'defund the police' is a complete disaster for the dems.
Biden is going to have to say he's not in favor of it, and that will dominate headlines and cause him to look like a Republican for a while, costing him liberal votes.
And it's stupid. It doesn't mean anything. It's not a plan.
Dems need to change to 'reform the police' or 'newblue' or something like that.
But they won't because they can't organize themselves.
Is defund the police a Democrat policy?
Genuinely unsure.

"Defund the police" is an unfortunate slogan because it sounds like you are saying "fire all the cops". As far as I can tell, that's not what most people mean when they say it. Proposals I've seen just move some of the money from the police to community-building efforts.
"Black lives matter" had the same kind of "imprecise language" problem. People immediately started saying "All lives matter" or "Blue lives matter" as a counter-protest.
Folks got over it though. People aren't playing those silly semantic games with BLM any more.
I don't know if "Defund the police" will be dragged down because of how it sounds. But words do matter and it would have helped to find a better slogan.

BLM is assuredly still being responded to with "All Lives Matter" by those who don't understand BLM. It's a fair amount of people...nearly 100% white.
Whoever thought of "Defund the Police" should never be allowed to come up with a slogan again.

Yeah, they're not that great at creating slogans.
Some of the ideas behind the Defund the Police may have some merit, but that phrase is a godsend to Republicans who want to pin lawlessness on Democrats.
Total hand on the forehead here.
Black Lives Matter should have been Black Lives are in Danger.
It takes a paragraph or two to explain what's behind the defund the police initiative and how the idea is to transfer some of the funding to other outreach programs.
But all people see is they want no police to protect people.

Of course it will. Just count the number of threads that will be started in the next few days insinuating it means "eliminate law enforcement" as a proxy for what right wing media is selling.
The problem with the US is that the populace doesn't have the attention span to deal with complex problems and the right is far better than the left at reducing complex issues to simple zero sum axioms to sell to a gullible populace.

Civil unrest always goes against the party in power. Trump is going to lose anyway, but continued civil unrest just makes it an even worse loss for him.
Civil unrest like this only reinforces division in the country on topics like race and social class and that's what got him elected in the first place.
The problem with Democrats is that they usually can't help but fall over themselves while they rush to talk about complex social issues like white privilege, all while completely butchering the message in the process and turning what should be a slam dunk into clusterfvck.
Maybe they'll be able to stay on topic
Posted one week ago, that's how predictable and outlandish certain elements of the Democratic party has become.
The idea that anyone believes November will be slam dunk for Democrats is just laughable.

"Minneapolis City Councillors appear to have endorsed the full abolition of the Minneapolis Police Department, making it likely that the city will soon proceed with a radical social experiment in which a major American city will go without law enforcement." Insanity.
